    Run Silent Run Deep was my favorite for a long, long time. Then the hunt for red October, first the book then the movie. My father turned our chicken coop into a playhouse for my 3 sisters when they were little. I turned it into a submarine :D They played along.

    The Admiral I hunt with each year in SD ended up buying a house there. He served as Director of Undersea Technology of the Naval Sea Systems Command and took command of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center. My youngest sister was an Electrical Engineer at NUWC before she became a stay at home mother. In 2006, he was named Director of Strategic Systems Programs and then retired a few years ago.

    At the request of the State Dept. he is now managing the Australian Navy submarine upgrade program until they get stabilized. So the house in SD made sense for him financially and the few times he comes back Stateside. He will not let us pay anything to stay there but will accept gifts. What in the hell do you get a 2 Star admiral as a gift?!

    Pretty much every book on that wall is about submarines. The rest are Naval warfare.

    Just an all around fantastic guy, and of course a dog man.

    True. He is originally from Wisconsin hard to get more salt of the earth. I ended up giving him my kitchen table for the house in SD. Well... it might have been the Ex's but when she left to go find herself she lost that right to claim it.

    Used to gas free some pretty tight spaces and never gave it a thought. Had to be dragged out by my feet more than once. Now I fight to keep from squeezing the "eject" button inside a MRI. Couldn't go back to it today.
