I think that is a part you can no longer get separately, may have to reuse what you have.

That’s a bummer. I’ll tear into the hubs tonight or tomorrow and see what I find. Thanks guys!

    Yessir.

Wiggly? Your bronze bushing don't fit snuggly in the hub?

I've ordered from that site's eBay account, everything comes from Saudi Arabia or United Arab Emirates, so be prepared for it to take a while. Also they may not have many Tacoma parts ready to go because they aren't sold there. Luckily they had Land Cruiser parts when I was looking.

I was not referring to ordering anything from there. I use that site as a resource for diagrams and part numbers by VIN. I then take the part number and find the part I need locally.

As I work on more than just Toyotas that site has been useful for other makes. I have a few more sites I use which have manuals too xD

When the hub is separated from the lockout it just rests on the bushing. I wouldn't be surprised if it's 1/8" gap in there.

Quick question. Am I doing damage if I drive it with the hubs locked? Does this take the load off the bearings? I ask because I’m supposed to get snow tomorrow, and it would be nice to have a 4x4. Obviously it wouldn’t be good to drive with the hubs unlocked if the bearings are grinding, but it seems to be fine when the hubs are locked.

You can drive with the hubs locked as long as you want, does nothing to affect the bearings, it'll even stop the grinding haha. Might dip your gas mileage a tiny bit.

I wouldn't drive to long a distance for a large amount of time.

If it's the needle bearings that're the issue (which is what I personally believe), left for too long will etch the flange surface on your birfield shaft, which will demise your new needle bearings sooner...

For a few days, it'll probably be fine. As someone mentioned earlier, check your seal on the CV birf end. It may be needing to be replaced (which may of killed the NB to begin with).

And once you replace the bearing make sure to clean out the hub with brake cleaner of any debris. It might be bad idea to spray the wheel bearing too much, which may hose out it's lubricant?

Derp. Yeah Speedytechs right. No use of the bushings or bearings with the hubs locked.

Funny story actually. I parked it shortly after this due to a rusted frame, and 6 months later when I had it driveaenagain I’d didn’t have this issue. :notsure:
