Well...the work was done on a property but was contracted through another business.

The owners of the place have paid but the money hasn't tricked down. The owners are also friends in a horrible spot, so if it came to liening it, it would just get written off even though that's a painful loss.

That sounds much more like what would fit in this circumstance. I'll check into that.

Take him to court, worse case scenario the judge makes him liquidate business assets so you get paid or get said assets. If someone owed me 10k I’d be seeing them in court. But I’m small potatoes compared to your huge operation though

Haha oh yeah, I'm not thrilled about it. All signs point to them robbing Peter to pay Paul with no exit to the situation. So there's a chance that money from new stuff will come through to pay, but no way the business will make it more than a few more months. They owe other contractors as well.

I'm not overly thrilled about having to pay for a lawyer if it comes to that. But would be happy to self represent.

    Ever play Poker?

Contact them, say you are issuing them a 10 day Demand letter for non payment of a contractually obligated payment and mailing it today if you don't have a cash payment in hand by X. Then you are taking them to Court to Force his business (and him personally if possible) into involuntary Bankruptcy (effectively ending his current career and putting a nice mark on him for next 7 years). Then mention oh by the way "You are friends with someone who's Dad is a Federal Judge in Denver" and Mayer Brown will be representing you (so you make his lawyer shit his pants too).

If you are going to get paid, that should provide all the enticement and Cash payment a la Pelfrybilt can't be pursued when they in fact do go bankrupt.

Whenever possible I will offer the seller extra $ to ship UPS or Fedex ground to avoid this bullshit. USPS can suck a big one in my book.

I always liked my ST MAXX tires. The wife loves them on her 4r.
