    A Brand new Bushmaster ACR/Masada! I went to get my M1A appraised and the guy said he didnt have the cash on hand and wanted to know if I'd trade...I bit and asked what he had. He pulls out a NIB ACR, and asks if that'd be acceptable. I couldnt pass it up. its VERY user friendly, with all of the controls in the right places. Take down is easy, about the same amount of parts as an AR, and I just noticed the Multi-Cal markings, Cant wait for the .308 package to come out!

    What part has the serial number? If it is the lower like a AR15 your are never going to fit a .308 mag in that lower. There will be 7.62x39.

    I realized that after I typed it, I'm definately getting a
    10.5" barrel and the quad rail when I can find them. First impressions of it were that it was a better mousetrap. But, I am digging the ambidexterous controls and the
    ease of disassembly.

    Thanks matt, my paperwork is already in, just waiting on it to come back. I wouldn't classify this as the end-all, be-all platform, but it is very user friendly. I put 100 rss through it with the magpul buis, and it's tight as can be

    From waht I understand no, Remington has developed a propietary finish that is about the same as a chrome lined barrel. THe barrels are all M4 profiles, so I wonder if I cant just buy a Noveske 10.5 and install the gas system and locking system on it. Something to research.

    Here is the rifle broken down into "parade rest" It takes about 30 seconds, same as my AR. I love that there is no Buffer tube, in theory, all you neeed is a back plate to fire the weapon. Also, I love the ability to change barrel lengths for different requirements, same with stock and handguard confiturations. sorry for the crappy iphone pics, My camera went Tango Uniform the other day. I am looking at the ballistics on the 6.5/6.8, I may adopt one of those for a mid range use if I find the need. Overall, I am impressed with the thought that went into this system, and am glad that the price is dropping for them.

    here is the blurb from the review I read about the finish on the bore..

    When word spread that the bore wasn’t chrome-plated, it led the shooting public to suspect that endurance testing had been given short shrift. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. Remington, Bushmaster and Magpul collaborated throughout the development of the gun. Given that the military version of the ACR is intended to compete in upcoming military trials as an alternative to the M4, it was designed for maximum durability and reliability. Extensive environmental and endurance testing is much of what delayed its release.
    Toward that end, Remington developed a proprietary finish for use in both the Remington and Bushmaster ACRs. Impregnated with a dry lubricant, the new finish will be applied to the inside of the bore and to all of the working components of the gun. Remington claims its new finish resists corrosion and doubles the service life of the bore. Additionally, it dispenses with the need for any additional lubrication. Needless to say, this limits the accumulation of carbon- and environment-based fouling. ​

    That's interesting indeed, however, I'll reserve my jugdement on the new finish until after some longevity. :)

    Only the upper receiver is serialized, not the lower receiver assy.

    Just got off the phone with Bushmaster.. I was told the caliber conversoin kits to 6.5 & 6.8mm, along with all of the aftermarket parts wont be available untill fall/spring. Lame!
