Question y’all....were doing a late Friendsgiving tomorrow and frying a turkey. How much oil do I need and what kind is best? It’s a 17.5 pounder.

 

Definitely peanut oil...amount will be dependent on size of pot.

Just buy two boxes of oil and you should be good. You won't use all of it. Most times I fry a turkey I usually fill the
frying bucket only 3/4 full.

I am smoking a ham today. Starting easy. Granted its already smoked from the store. Made up a nice glaze. 3 hours in, shes at 115, taking her to 130 internal

 

Jumping right into it! Most forgiving meat to smoke will be a pork butt. You’d have to really be trying hard to mess one up.

Ice started falling while we were in TR today, so decided to get out of there. Didn't get to stop and have my beer downtown. Stopped and got some Sierra Nevada Tropical Torpedo to make up for it. That stuff is tasty.

When I first started I didn't know you had to get the temp up to 190+ for pulling. Pulled at 160... Didn't work very well.

I get a sweet tooth about once every six months or so, and when it happens, forget it, whole bags of chocolate will vanish.
