any of yall had to deal with an upper that was wonky and made all rails put on it misaligned with the barrel?

Cause....i thought my rail was fucked so i threw on a BCM MCMR on my aero upper...both are crooked in the same way, so i'm assuming it's actually the upper

two different rails, both are offcenter at the end, leaning towards the left. thought it was a barrel nut mating issue with the first, but it's the same with this new rail...
top is the new bcm mcmr, bottom is the old stngr hwk

Wow! That is severely off. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that. Can’t imagine the bcm is out of spec, or the aero upper really, but I would start by trying a different upper receiver.

How does the mating surface between the upper and rail look?

The hwk was completely flat and aligned as far as I could tell. The bcm seems to be ever so slightly off

This is what I would do. Loosen the mounting screws on the bcm rail, and gently tap the muzzle end with a soft hammer/mallet see if you can seat it better, my bcm rail is touching/flush with my upper

    Edit:
I re read your post about 2 diff handgaurds, sounds like an upper issue.

Second edit, cuz I’m drinking. You didn’t bend the barrel did you lol

any pointers in the right direction for a reasonably priced AR case? would prefer a hard sided one that I could put a lock on.

I know that Harbor Freight has a certain stigma attached to it, but their Pelican look alikes are very well made. I have the smaller pistol sized box and plan to grab the large one soon.

lol no. I'm still getting good groups from the barrel, so it has to be the mating surfaces with the rail

I feel like this upper is making me experience 5th grade health class all over again.

Did you check where the barrel mates to the upper?
If you have calipers you could check to ensure the barrel extension and the collar are square. The machining of the barrel could be screwed up and the collar that the barrel nut Torques against the upper could be cut out of square therefore making the barrel off center but still accurate.
Another way to check (possibly easier) is to see if you have horizontal change of zero from 25 to 150 yards.

So crunching some #s it looks like im right about $370 in parts for the pistol. Not bad since most parts were not really deals or sale just what was available when I needed that part.
And here's the .300 pistol next to my 5.56 carbine
    1204182251a.jpg 1210181955a.jpg

This was my first build, so it was really fun being able to start with the parts I wanted, instead of swapping things out.

Strange, having the optic further from the users eye usually facilitates shooting with both eyes open much better. The closer the optic is to your eye, the more it obstructs your field of view. But if it works for you like that then right on.

Well that’s easy. Of course your son can be as fast as Lucas Botkin.. just record him shooting, then speed the footage up before you upload to youtube. Just like he does.
