    Looks like it is time to rebuild the engine.
    Step 1 remove engine
    Step 2 replace with 2UZ-fe
    Step 3 ...
    Step 4 Profit

    I am approaching 300k myself. Looks like I have a ways to go still.

    I can help with step 1. I'm good at smashing gently removing things with the utmost care...

    in all seriousness, do you have an issue with your engine?

    *update* Not gonna lie, I had to google the 2uz-fe, V8 eh? are you serious? do you have a donor truck? I'm down for shenanigans! ( provided my wife and kids allow it... )

    The only issues I have with my motor is the short drive to work. Builds a fair bit of condensation in the engine, which is definitely not good for it.

    I have a BMW E30 (80s 3 series) to acquire and build before the Tacoma gets a new motor. I had a 325is that rotted out from under me, and I have a motor in the basement that wants a new chassis to live in. After I have a second vehicle that I can drive to and from work I will probably consider more seriously what I want to swap into the Tacoma. the UZ V8's look amazing with all the power that they produce, and the retaliative light weight of the engine. There is also the 1VD-FTV diesel V8 which lives inside Land Cruiser 200 and makes all of the power. Or the holy grail of engines that are definitely insane ideas, the 1GZ-FE. A V12 producing 200hp at around 1500rpm. But the 2UZ came in the 4Runner and would probably be the easiest to acquire and swap into the truck, so odds are that is the route that I will end up taking, and putting an R150 5 speed behind it.

    in other news....
    I've noticed this paint...... crack?... on my roof. Its not a bubble, but more of a crack that's let water in. I can see rust ( or at least the appearance of rust ) around the crack so I can only guess as to what's happening underneath. This has been there since I got it 2yrs ago :oops:. I know I know, lazy....

    Since I've been slowly pin striping the truck on various tracks ( smart move @TacoMitch93 for buying a white truck ) I was thinking of stripping the paint off the roof this summer and putting bedliner on it. Raptor liner to be exact.

    Raptor liner is able to be tinted, that's important to me since I like my Grey. if the roof goes well, I can see myself slowly doing the whole truck.

    Stay tuned! shenanigans to come!

    I vote for Wingin' It, by the Cole Harbour Canadian Tire. I have never had their wings, but I've been looking for an excuse to try them.

    Clutch is ordered from Rock Auto, I'll try to do the job before Christmas. I predict a cold snap. Last clutch I did was in the depths of winter in Lake Louise, it can't be that bad again this time!

    so many projects so little time eh? I hit that wall all too often. I look forward to seeing any and all progress :D

    I've been there recently with my wife! While the wings were decent, the service was a bit slow that night. The Black horse beer was good while I waited. :cheers:

    Hardcore x4! I'm in when you get the inkling to do so. There is a lot of prep work that can be done before the actual removal. Drive shaft, wiring, starter motor, X-member. I will say this @TacoMitch93, his ratchet extensions were a life saver! one of them was like 3ft long! ( that and the 1/2" ratcheting breaker bar :)

    I can probably borrow the motorcycle Jack from the Father in law, I already have the 12pt socket we need for the flywheel so no need to buy that.

    lets get'r done! :dancingbacon:

    If you are local I would like to lend a hand! I eventually will need to do the same on my truck and could use the hands on practice!
    PS. I don't have to wrench; I can be a 'grab me a 10mm' type helper or just an extra set of hands. Just to be there and see how to do it would be fun,

    You are most welcome to join in on the fun. I am in Cole Harbour. My Christmas break starts on the 15th, I am thinking I'll try to do the job somewhere in the 17th to the 21st range, the kids and wife will still be on the regular 9-5 routine so I'll be clear to work through the days without any other demands. If you are getting yourself set up to do the job yourself you may want to dive in with a wrench to get a feel for it, but anything goes! For me, I approach this work more as a mental health balance kind of thing and do not try to go full on production. If it goes really well I might go after some other items on the to do list, like extended rear brake lines, rear axle oil seal, etc.

    And... if you make it out maybe I can talk to you about sleeping platforms...

    Don't know if I updated that after I sold my fiberglass cap;

    I ended up buying a tonneau cover a month ago;

    Well, I saw a contractor cap for sale the other day for a good price, so of course I picked it up hahah. Took the tonneau off at buddies place and installed the cap. It didn't come with clamps, which I wasn't made aware of till I showed up! Luckily I had my straps in the truck, so 6 straps later on the inside, I drove home haha

    Had to put the taco to work hauling the new 8ft plow home from halifax for my chevy, and also picked up a fancy set of wheel spacers while I was up there
    [IMG]

    Then the next day I had to run up to mabou to see how the re-fit is going on our crab-boat. Looks alot thicker with the wheel spacers, and handles alot better.
    [IMG]

    Also just rolled over 340,000km :D

    Anyone ever put the spyder fog lights in their 2nd gen SR5? I picked them up second hand and I have no reason to believe they won't work. I admit I've only done the most basic maintenance to my truck. Am I going to have to take the bumper off for this? It'll probably have to wait until the spring since I don't have a garage.

    I've never done anything with my fog lights, but I would guess you will not find this too much to take on. Do you have factory fog lights? Even if you don't you may find the wire harness is in place, which will really cut down on the work.

    I'll be doing my clutch in the driveway next week, if you want company while you wire up your new fog lights you are welcome to come over!

    Winter tires for the taco, looking at the Blizzak DM-V2 or the General Grabber Artic, both in the stock 245/75/16 size. I've got the Open Country A/T II for the summer, but they are way too squirrely on the ice. Any opinions either way?

    Personally I think anything with winter rubber and siping is good. I am running Cooper ATWs, I wanted something that would get me back a little further into woods. If i was sticking to highway I would make price the determining factor.
