ah I see what you're saying. My statement still stands, they're probably slapping that VIN sticker on a stolen vehicle and selling it to some poor sucker right now.


It was happening a lot in Seattle when I was a kid. The "mafia" / "gangs" were buying totaled vehicles and then stealing a comparable one, swapping the vins, and selling the stolen one with the title etc from the one that they legally purchased

 

Ah that's unfortunate... wonder why they aren't made tamper proof like store price labels.
