I was actually impressed by how little weight was gained going up one size (1” larger outer diameter) and to an LT C-rated tire.

I did the SEMA pro wheels and Toyo open country at2 in a 265/70/17SL and they are lighter than my stock sport wheels, granted by onlu a few lbs.

Check out how much more the BFG KO2 16 inch weights......~6 lbs more than the 17 inch because E rated; 16 inch does not come in C rated

Yeah. That’s one reason I stayed away from the 265/75/16 size initially. I actually don’t mind the stock OR 16” wheels, but the weight penalty for the E-rated BFGs steered me away from a 16” replacement. That’s when I went looking for 17” rims and arrived at these nice Toyota 4Runner rims.

Here is the weight on my E-Rated 265/75/16 snow tires fitted to my stock TRD OR wheels. I went with the General Grabber Arctic LT dedicated snow.

16.8 Lbs per tire heavier than the stock 16” Wranglers, and 10.2 Lbs per tire heavier than the 17” C-rated K02 / TRD wheel combo.

Looking at this, I can see why people take such a hit on fuel economy when they go up to the E-Rated 16” K02s on the stock OR 16” rims. I’m ok with burning a little more fuel over the winter, but am guessing I’ll be looking forward to being back with the TRD 17” / C-rated K02 combo as soon as the threat of snow and ice is over.

I couldn’t do another winter on K02. Not a great winter tire in my experience. Looking forward to these Grabbers!

How did you stretch those 16”s to fit a 17” rim?

I lifted 2.5 in front and 1” on rear fitted the 285 no problem , the alignment is off minor on the computer but it does not pull any direction , just the tech that did the alignment showed me on the computer that he could not get it perfect , do to the lift I did , I just went with the spacer up front and block in rear till I can afford the coils .
