Custom tube bumper and sliders, ultimate 3' lift,
Because of the design on the front bilsteins is there not a potential for failure?

It appears that the coilover is only supported by a collar which is secured by a number of set screws. So in essence the entire weight of the compressed spring is resting on a number of set screws around a groove on the shocks....? Is this right.... And if they were to come loose or take a pounding they could slip causing the coil to slip. This would then eventually be seen by scratches on the shock as the collar and set screws slip downward.

I am looking at installing a Toyotec Ultimate 3" lift on my truck with the tires and rims to complete the package. However, I am having conflicts with the information local shops are telling me.

Has anyone had any problems or seen failure with this setup?

There are no Set screws, but rather a C Clip. It is a very structurally sound mount.

They sold 1000's of units (between the ultimate kit and just 5100's)

You think they would still be in business/using that set up if the hardware configuration had failed at any point??

I would worry more about the mechanics of the stock truck and how they will hold up lifted and about where you are going to get your cab mounts chopped...

Depending on the size of the tires you wanna run- You might need to think about getting the cab mounts boxed so the edges of the tires do not rub on them.

It was just one of the many things you may have to think about and that varies from rig to rig...

    $5000:eek:

Buy the kit and tires in the usa, have them shipped to you and put the lift on yourself and save about $2000!

I installed my icon stage 3 lift myself over a weekend. First time I've ever attempted such a project, and it was not that difficult. And if you have any questions/problems, lots of people on here can help you out. Plus half the people that you will talk too at the shops near you will have no clue and will give you bogus advice.
