Also volume of the tank. If you have a little 1 gallon tank with a decent compressor but are constantly emptying the tank then you'll be running the compressor past it's duty cycle and it'll become very inefficient.

Did you try a mini sledge? A good swing with a 5lb hammer puts out something like 2k lbs of force

Randy should get one of the ir 80 gallon two stages from tractor supply. It will run almost every tool constantly at 90psi. Thats what we have at the shop

Yep. On the bottom ones it just bent the frame. On the side I couldn’t get enough room to swing. It would be easier without a bumper on, but no way I’m taking that fucker off and putting it back on by myself.

We have a shop for hobby. There's only ever one tool used at a time. Most of the time I'm there by myself. Would definitely need more with multiple people.

All the 10 bay and under shops I've worked at ran on a 80-120 gal. 2 stage and they kept up fine. You aren't running the air all the time or at least we weren't enough to cause it to run a lot. Now in the bigger shops we used giant 3 phase compressors and huge tanks don't even know how big they were but much bigger than 3 120s.

Yes we are building a new shop looking into a tankless 3 phase oil bathed screw drive. They claim it will out perform what we have now.

Oh we still had a tank on ours but then again it was at a dealership with 45 bays or something like that. Most the independent shops I worked at were all =/>10 bays and didn't need that much air. Plus with all this electric stuff most of us started switching over to electric tools over air.

Yeah your tools are much more air hogs than what we use. Biggest gun I have is 3/4" and I was one of the med/hvy duty mechanics at a dealership. The scale of what you need and what I am use to is a lot greater.
