I think my heating source- and every home around me are in the attics and crawl spaces. I hear no A/C units. I probably have what @JimboAnz has. During the summer everyone A/C units are running. In the winter, they are all silent.

We just upgraded our stuff and our A/C and now heating bills are much less.

It is nice to know that heat can be made from and A/C unit though- something I never knew!

Yeah that's the way to go!!!
Gotcha! There is a lot of physics that goes into it and can get confusing. I had to sit through a geothermal HVAC systems class recently yeah I was lost in 5 min.

Agree. The outside fan things are the ac, the inside things (one in attic, one in garage) is the heat thing.

School district closed tomorrow.. since it's an 'e-learning day', Technology has to be available via email and our laptops. So essentially I'm working from home tomorrow... So essentially I'm playing PlayStation waiting...

Turn the a/c on in your truck then go touch the condenser that heat is from the compressed refrigerant. Just like compressing air in a turbo or superchager heats the air thus having an intercooler.

    Yup! :)

I believe you- just not in these homes/ neighborhoods. Never heard of it, but I have learned something new!

Is the AC on at your home now?

The inside thing could be the evaporator in a split system where the condenser is outside and the evap is inside kinda like a car. You just have A/C lines running to it. Unless you have what I had which was an all in one unit and everything was housed in the unit outside including the blower fan. If you have a separate furnace it has nothing to do with the A/C stuff and is a completely separate unit.

That is exactly what I have. Completely separate units. Never heard of the other way, but now I know.

Heat pumps use a reversing a valve to change direction of the Freon but heat pumps are worthless when temps get below 34/35 degrees. This is when you need to have a gas furnace or a duel fuel system.

If you have 2 thingy's inside then one is for the A/C and the other is a furnace of some sort (in a single A/C unit system) then you have a split system if you only have 1 then you have a heat pump.

I have two things inside: one in the attic, for upstairs. Another in the crawl space for down stairs.

I also have two outside AC units: one for upstairs and a bigger one for downstairs.

The AC units only come on in Summer, not winter- ever.
