South Carolina BS thread under new MANAGEMENT and lives in SC

This is like mine. I know there is a furnace and the ac coils that need cleaned, in the inside things. 1 for up, 1 for down. Outside fan things only come on with ac

 

I have never lived in a house that had it another way. This home was built 2006. Had exact same thing in CA. Had no Idea there was a different way; it's good to know.

 

I am due for another drink.

There are a bunch of different ways these days. It can be overwhelming but a lot of technology has come about in the last 20 yrs in HVAC. In the end the customer just wants it to work.

 

I just learned to make heat from an AC unit; I feel like Bill Nye.

In FL they have heat pumps or just a straight cool system with a 8-12 KW heat strip for heating

 

I had the costly heat strips when i lived in S FL. Hated to turn em on.

 

just call the ac/heat guy.

 

I’m installing a duel fuel system this spring .....

Heat pump with a gas furnace for when temps get below 32 degrees

 

Now, I feel like I can participate in such conversation without feeling like the village idiot.

"Heat Strips" "Heating with AC on in Winter" I almost thought someone slipped one of us some magic mushrooms!

 

In FL I had a couple of window units for AC. Heat during the "winter" was what's her name.

Where my BIL is from in OR they most people don't even have A/C just heat

I'm in the architecture/construction industry and it's really cool to study different areas and how they do different systems. It gives you a better understanding of what works well for different climates and being able to adapt those systems into a different climate area.
