So was all that dirt in the airbox AFTER the snorkel?

Blow or rotary mold

 

If I recall correctly, the box stated rotary...
The mud was before the install, which leads me to believe there was certainly some water that made it into the air box. The air horn that protrudes into the fender from the air box had a pretty thick layer of concrete like dirt in it as well.

What up mike. Wanted to give you a heads up that some have installed the snorkel. A couple things to mention. Looks like one of the Holes in the template is off by about 1”. Others have mentioned that they are not sure how the A Pillar bracket is supposed to install.
Any help would be much appreciated.

@toyotatrailteam So when you installed yours, I take it you had the same issue installing the A Pillar Bracket? Or were you able to install yours in some way?

 

I didn’t install the A-pillar bracket either. I don’t believe it’s needed, didn’t want to drill into the airbag, and the angle of the bracket on test fit seemed off. If installed into the A-pillar it wouldn’t sit flush on the snorkel body. I sent Mike a PM with all the info and pics.

 

Can you take a pic pointing at your right a-pillar from the driver seat? I'm curious how much is visible and how much of the view is blocked by the snorkel.

 

You can definitely see it. It might be a while before I can take a pic though. If nobody else does before i get a chance to, I'll get one..

 

Does it seem like it's going to cause an issue with visability or be obnoxiously visible?

 

I went exploring today for several hours and it didn't bother me at all. It's there but not annoyingly there, I wouldn't say it's distracting. man, my truck could use some TLC, it gets rode hard and put up wet. A good detailing is in order, soon.

Looks like the interior of mine. I have had a nice layer of Arizona desert in my truck interior for about a year now.

Yeah, I had no dirt, or signs of water in my air box after miles of bogged roads, it seems to be working as intended.

 

I'm curious about how important the A-Pillar mount is for the snorkle. @mesojdm , you built your own snorkle, though I can't recall if you mounted it on the A-Pillar as well? Any thoughts?

 

If you're going through heavy trees and branches, you don't want one getting in between the snorkel and the a-pillar, as it could lever the snorkel out and bend the fender. It's pretty unlikely to happen though.

Every inch counts!! Everyone else, be sure to follow step 6 in the instructions.

6. Check the template against the snorkel body and remove the perforated oval shaped section for the snorkel body air entry.

Sorry about that hole being off. That means everyone's will be. We will get them to amend it for future production.

 

Here’s a pic. I haven’t noticed any decrease in visibility of oncoming traffic.

 

I believe Stew used 3M tape on the A-Pillar.
