Helmets suck to wear all the time, and as a DD I don't want the risk of getting hit by a drunk or a millennial texting and brain myself on the roll cage.

Even for long highway stints to get to/from fun it's a safety hazard.

Probably. But by then she'll have need to know, and probably just take whatever I buy as a DD mod to avoid driving the monster anyway.

Yes, except she's more the COO.

    House Hold 6.

In military slang the 6 is your rear (check my 6), and the command element stays in the rear. Hence in field units the 6 is command (usually colonel or general). In staff units the 6 shop is IT so try not to get confused.

Finally ripped my @snowsk8air2 second (or third?) hand rear Kings apart for a rebuild. Compression was 12! and rebound was two 10s then three 08s. I'm curious what those were set up for originally.

New valving is 20/08 with a flutter under the first compression shim. Rear is much closer matched to the front now, we'll see how it is to live with. I suspect 18/08 with the same flutter would be better.

@ilubtimmyhos if you haven't ordered shocks yet consider the above.

That's how I got them new. Never messed with them so this is the first time they've been apart. With what I've learned since going LT, the .08 stack on rebound should be perfect, but I'm betting 20 on compression will be stiff unless you have a ton of weight in the rear. I'm running 15/08 and it's pretty damn perfect, but it's also sua w/ bypass vs soa and smoothies

Interesting. I though 15/12 was standard from king?

Last time I was on the scale the rear axle was 2750# with the truck empty. With all my gear in the truck its about 3250#.

And not trying to complain at all, just thought you'd be interested in the results.

No clue what standard is supposed to be for those, my bypasses came 15/10 and I know that is standard for them. They might try to lighten it up some with 12's because there is no bypass:notsure: Either way, going to 8's on rebound was definitely the right move for that, and adding a flutter on compression will help. Just need to play around with the compression stack some to find where it is happiest. But I'd bet the 20 is a little stiff.

Definitely interested and happy to throw my opinion in on what changes to make now that I've learned a lot more about valving from the LT guys

All the tools are out. I'm trying to get real numbers on weight.

No, I'm back on Dakars for right now, debating between a DMZ kit or custom Deaver SOA pack.

When I atart d talking numbers with Deaver thier engineer sent me back to check my math.

If you do high speed stuff, go DMZ, but if not, the custom pack for soa should be just fine. Maybe eventually upgrading to bypasses for better performance.

I like going fast. I'm not planning to LT the front though. The new valves on the back make a huge difference, confirming that I can set up a really nice ride with SOA. Bypasses would be even better.
