Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
Welp, I need to find new places to hunt. After 9 days in MN and 8 in WI, I have no meat in the freezer. Nothing ever came close enough to get a shot. Saw one spike opening morning in WI and a few does here and there. Of course, the one evening I took my buddy's 15 year old son out in a double stand we had 6 does come out on us and I let the kid take the shot.

Guess I'll retire and take up knitting.

    Skunked today, literally.
Had a skunk spray somewhere behind when i got in the stand. Had 5 little does come around. My buddy got one, none came close enough for a decent shot.

Well that’s it ! Saw a couple squirrels yesterday ,not one deer for the last afternoon. Have a muzzleloader but never used it . One of these days during the summer I will start practicing with it . Truthfully though by the time rifle season is over I am hunted out  Good season although the 6 pointer I got was the only rack buck I saw in my area here in NY . Got the nice 8 point in Pa so a good season! Cameras are still out so hopefully there are some good survivors.

No sense of leaving the electric and heat on for a few weeks.1209180856.jpg

I got a little footage from opening day (no deer...) But I was really just testing out my telescope lenses...I may try and get some deer on camera soon but I need to see some deer to do that...

End of the 2018 whitetail season in NY. I didnt get anything this year year . It was a great season and a horrible one at the same time. I've been hunting my aunt and uncles 40 acres and its allways been the best hunting I've ever experienced for the last 12 years and have had some really good luck. This year my uncle has bad cancer and he wont be around much longer so while the days in the field were amazing I was thinking about my uncle and the last 12 years of the amazing hunting and memories I've made and the thought of possibly not being able to return to my "spot" next year and not seeing my uncle for the deer report for the start of the season. So 2018 was a high and low hunting season for me personally .

Sat for a few hours in the 23° weather and didn’t see shit. My dad and I decided to go to another spot we had been wanting to hunt and look around. Jumped a doe. When she took off I heard something grunt. Looked up and this guy was unlucky enough to be standing on top of a ridge. I didn’t have a shot, but could see his head. Dad couldn’t see his head, but had a shot. I told him it was a buck and he did the rest. Weirdest part, though - his glands aren’t stained at all. It’s the middle of December and this guy hasn’t even started to show signs of rut...
