Got some work done on the 'ole homestead today!
12%! A tad sweet for me but pretty good.

This was good, mellow, fruity, balanced.

Two brown IPAs. Alchemist El Hefe on the left, my El Hefe inspired homebrew Mosaic brown IPA fermented with Alchemist yeast on the right. El Hefe seems to be pretty heavy on the black malt and has an acrid roasty quality, though still a nice beer. Mine is lighter in color, much less roasty, and much easier to drink. Both have a nice Mosaic finish and both run 7% ABV. I actually prefer mine, though I could be a little biased.

I wasn't impressed by the beers, but I was impressed by everything else... I'm not sure they poured all the right beers in my flight, some seemed off the mark from what the description said it was. Milk stouts were all ok, but for me, too much of that cloying milk stout muddy sweetness. Thought the hoppy blonde and golden stout both tasted like a lot of green pepper, to the point I thought they poured the wrong thing. Space is awesome, TONS of really good equipment, so I hope they turn it around.

They have a lot of competition in the immediate area so we will see. When I looked at it, It kind of looked like it will end up just being an average place that everyone flocks to before angels and ducks game.

I was in Paso Robles yeasterday and stopped off at Kilo Kilo Brewing, which had its grand opening on Saturday. They didn’t have many of their own beers to taste just yet because they’re production is still only on their one barrel system. They also have a three barrel as well, but that won’t be up and running for another week. So they had three sours and one double IPA on tap that I tried. All good, so looking forward to seeing where their headed. One of their brewers, Ryan, was the manager at Barrelworks and the owners are Steve and Pam, who were investors in Toolbox several years back up until 2016. Anyway, they had lots of guest taps including Hill Farmstead, De Garde, Alvarado, and Dionysus.

I can't even imagine how much the rent is on the giant building they have there. It's got a ton of drinking space, and it's definitely close to both games, so they'll probably do well. I'm not dying to go back anytime soon tho.
