Looks like Tire Rack carries the Toyo A30's.

Took my 2016 TRD sport, off road with these tires I lowered the tires to 25psi and it was really impressive.

Has anyone had to replace their Toyo A30s because of wear yet? I’m at 39k miles with tread still left!

Curious how long they are lasting for others.

I'm at 42,000 km and just finishing their second winter (yeah I live in Canada and don't use winter tires until I have to).

Right now I'm trying to decide if I switch to KO2s or similar tires closer to the end of summer and be rid of the A30s, or switch in the fall to winters and stretch the life out of the A30s for a couple more springs/summers.

I’m just shy of 40,000 kms too!! My tires still look in great shape with a lot of tread left.

For pavement, they are pretty good tires. last winter, did the job wonderfully.

This winter I kept having to go into 4HI for the more wintery days, as the tread had worn off enough to cause traction issues.

While the KO2s have the 3 peak label, however I see varying reviews on their winter capabilities and would hate to get rid of perfectly good road shoes that the A30s have been.

My 2016 Sport 2wd had the Toyo A30's and I had a little over 30,000 miles when I traded it and the dealer had to replace the tires. I could have maybe gotten another 5,000 or so out of them, but they wore very quickly. I don't have to deal with snow, but wet roads were no fun with them. It felt like they were always on the verge of hydroplaning. Didn't seem to work well in dirt or sand either. I was not really a fan of the A30's.

It's too early to tell how the Goodyears on my Off Road will hold up, but they seem to be wearing better than the A30's. I'll probably switch to BFG's when I have to replace them. I have had good luck with all of my BFG's and they all lasted 55-60,000 miles. My last Goodyears were close to that as well.

Mine came with the Toyos. They are a better tire than I was expecting in all conditions on and off road except rain. In the wet, they slip too easily on bare pavement and way too much on paint lines and tar snakes.

I will be going with another tire when the time comes. I'm leaning toward Yokohama Geolandars?

    Hi All.

I've got a 2017 Tacoma, purchased new in June of 2017. It came with Toyo A30 Open Country's in 265/65/17. I'm up to around 25,000 miles at the moment.

When I purchased this and through the first winter, it seemed fine, I didn't even notice the tires. I do quite a bit of highway and around town driving, not much offroad. Only light stuff on occasion (fields or light trails when I hunt, maybe some light two tracks through the woods, sometimes a little sandy, etc), but I'm outside of Chicago so of course winter snow and ice are plentiful. Seemed like the tires were fine, like I said, I didn't even give them a second thought up until recently.

Now well into the second winter with the truck and already with some snow and ice, I'm noticing quite a loss of traction. Can't back up my driveway when it's snowy/icy without disengaging the traction control and/or engaging 4WD and if you know anything about the Chicagoland area, we're not talking about any kind of massive hill or incline here.

    What makes me curious is...

-If it's just the sensitivity of the traction control on the 2017. I do notice it engages quite often, and not only slips like hell, but cuts out my throttle. Disengaging helps, but this 2017 doesn't do anywhere near as well as my 2015 did.
-If it's these tires. I see this thread is old. I searched Tire Rack and could not even find these. I don't know if they have been discontinued or I'm not looking in the right place.
-If these tires are just worn out, and 25,000 miles is getting towards the end of life.

Does anyone have any more and/or recent experience with these to share? If I were to replace them, what do you like out there that is a stock size tire for maybe 45% highway, 45% city, and 10% light offroad, but with the addition of snow and ice for 6 months of the year?

My 2015 had Dunlop AT20 Grand Trek. I don't remember anything poor about them, but nothing overly positive to comment, either.

They are all season tires and get hard in the winter. Most All-seasons are OK through the first winter, and then degrade after the edges of the tread blocks get worn. Go with a dedicated winter set if you live in an area with significant winter weather. You can pick up a set of SR5 wheels for cheap (as cheap as steelies!) and stick a set of 245/70-16 winter tires. Narrower are better for winter most typically.

My A30's have 25K on then and are still very good in the summer. Low rolling resistance and quiet. They are decent tires. I'll probably go Michelin Defender or Kumho Crugen when its time to replace though.

Yeah, no data on Tire Rack.

Mine at 15k still seems about as good (read: not great) in the cold and wet this year. We haven't seen snow yet. I am thinking about finding some next weekend, with a set of chains.

My hope is to ditch them at the end of next summer.

My A30s behaved pretty much the same, first winter, no problem. Second winter, started to use some of the truck's features to get around. This year I switched to winter rated (yay! insurance discount) All Terrains.

Everyone and their mother will have an opinion on all-terrains for the tacoma. So, I'm not going to suggest what to buy, but this certainly saved me a few bucks on one set of tires to rule them all. no extra set of wheels, tires, TPMS and tires. $1300 vs. $2500 (CDN funds which includes all our beloved taxes and "it's a fee, not a tax").

I changed my A30 out at about 39K...pretty decent in all on road conditions for me.. At 39K the rubber was just above the wear bars..I went with the Mich Defender...still breaking them in

I'll be curious to hear your experience with MPG differences and ride/traction quality. The Defenders seem to last so long that I hope to be happy with their performance if I go that route. Otherwise, the Kumhos are quite a bit cheaper.

im researching new all season tires ive looked at those Kumho crugen tires they are a replica set of the MICHELIN Defenders I think made in S. Korea? even tho lots of people are raving about them they are developing some unfavorable aspects as far as wet traction and weak traction on a start so although they look like the defenders in the end the quality isn't there compared to the LTXs again u get what u pay for.

Thanks for all the responses and inputs, definitely some great info here. What I may do is see how bad it gets between now and January. I appreciate all the experience sharing, thank you!
