We sold about half on the pre orders, we will most likely run another group buy to clear up some inventory

We have about 150 sets that are not spoken for, we just didn’t want to sell anymore until we got them in hand

@kustom54lighting so what exactly is the benefit/difference between a group buy and just buying from your site?

We did a discount, the group buy was to get preorders to see if we wanted to go through with getting these

Just for reference - if anyone cares - I work in international logistics (freight forwarding), and I can tell you with a lot of certainty, that OP is likely not lying about these getting delayed shipping.

Let me explain, as this is how I make my living...

First, I work closely with a lot of Asian manufacturers, and 9 times out of 10, they over promise on an expected completion date, usually by a minimum of 1 week if not more.

Secondly, international shipping isn't as easy or quick as many would believe. These are likely shipping in a consolidated container (LCL) because there isn't enough freight to fill an entire container. This means that once the product is completed, the shipper will deliver it to a warehouse where it will sit for a minimum of 1 week while other freight is collected to be consolidated into 1x40FT container. Then once the container is loaded it returns to the port where it sits for another 2-3 day before it is loaded onto the vessel.

Now comes the fun part, the vessels have been overbooked by 120-150% the last 4 months due to peak season and everyone rushing to get their cargo out of China before the increase of the Section 301 List 3 Tariffs (were) supposed to take effect on Jan 01. So it's likely the container got rolled by another week and sat at the port for an additional 7 days before it was finally loaded. Once loaded the vessel takes anywhere from 12-18 days to get from Asia to Los Angeles port.

Once they arrive to Los Angeles, it generally takes 3-4 days for the container to be unloaded (because fucking union workers), where it will then sit for another 2-3 days before it's available to pick up. Now, because the ports in LA are fucking stupid, there is a new "appointment" only system for EVERY terminal, and trying to get a container picked up from the port can take another 4-5 days because there are never any appointments available or the ports are so congested the truckers say "fuck this" and try again another day.

When the container is finally picked up, it has to be moved to ANOTHER warehouse. This is where the unload the container, sort out everyone's shit, and then make it available to pick up. Because there is so much cargo coming into the West Coast ports right now, these containers are sitting at this warehouse for 1-2 days before they can be unloaded. Then assuming OP has a decent freight forwarder, they can schedule a carrier to pick them up as soon as they are ready and usually deliver 1-2 business days later.

So, from the completion date at the factory you we are looking at around a minimum of 30 days to get product from the factory to OP's business or distribution center in the Los Angeles area. Unfortunately OP doesn't have any control on the speed of shipping. Sucks, but it's the truth.

TLDR; Chinese manufacturers over promise on expected completion dates - international shipping is (very) slow - I hate union workers.

@kustom54lighting - you're welcome to contact me if you have any troubles with your shipping and need a good freight forwarder, and I'll take that discount now for thoroughly explaining why the delay

Thank you for that break down and unfortunately it’s is very true lol, we did pay extra to get them shipped via air to get them faster since they got delayed. Our original shipping method was exactly what you mentioned though but since they got delayed we had to get them air delivered to expedite all the orders.

Yikes! Hopefully you got them shipped late last week or early this week, as rates just started to come back down and space availability is back to normal...now that Apple and Samsung aren't buying up all the space and driving rates sky high.
