    If you plan on spending any time off-road, the very first mod you need to do is get a set of decent rock sliders to protect your rocker panels. We have a couple of good fabricators in the Lakeland/Auburndale ( @allenfab @Timbo's Customs ) area that can make and install them for you, or you can get a set commercially from any number of vendors. Do this before you do anything else like lift/suspension or tires. Many of us have learned the hard way of the importance of sliders, so learn from our painfully earned wisdom.

    You'll want to get at least a 4" wide strap. Those little 2" ones will break the minute things get serious. And never go alone. ;)

    I've been putting off running rear power in general and want it capable to support a small winch in the rear that I got for free at hf. The wire would mainly be for air, water, outlets the usual stuff.

    You should be fine grounding it to the frame clean the frame up and make a good connection you should be fine.

    Although, you might want to beef up the bonding wire to the frame from the battery. Usually the big ground wire from the battery goes to a ground on the engine block with a small wire going to the body and another bonding strap that goes from the engine block to the firewall. Either one of those could fail under the power draw of a winch.
