Yep, my thought exactly. Set up as he feels comfortable, regardless of my opinion.

One thing I have wondered though, as a LEO, you walk up on Travis' truck for a typical 5 over stop. You saw what he carries in his truck and where. What would be your impressions on initial contact be?

I suppose being a well known firearm instructor has some context you don't normally have though.

I would be happy after talking to him and seeing how well versed he was in being prepared and would probably ask him to show me around and chat about it. Now if he was talking to himself or sounded like a real life Dale Gribble, I might react differently...

LOL. ..and a frag grenade and smoke. That's some funny shit right there. Not impressed by the truck really but he's still building on it. It just needs more money.

It's in flux right now in terms of setup, but my "way the hell in the desert where there's some curious creatures, 2 and 4 legged" setup is

"Totally not an SBR" AR Pistol that looks oddly like a Mk.18 rifle w/ 20 round shorty
    2 spare 30 round mags
    IFAK
    1 large nalgene w/ water
1 HAM radio with local repeaters stored
    leatherman tool, spare batteries, etc
space blanket and 2 hand warmers
    strobe and signal panel

Basically enough to abandon the vehicle short term and grab 1 bag. It gets added only when I am on backcountry trips. I always keep a full trauma kit, rain jacket, etc in my truck separately in addition to my CCW (HK USP or P30 depending on day, weather, etc.)

I'm cool with the smoke (if it worked) since I've been in a situation or two where it would have been nice for marking position doing SAR stuff back east.

I suppose the frag could be a good bluff if you had to get yourself out of a jam. Most people I know wouldn't step to if you had one of those in your hands, or you could toss it in their direction to break contact since they are gonna be running for the hills if they saw that land at their feet.

but a relatively famous person is driving it.

The paramotor in the back is pretty sweet though.

The truck is pretty much a stock 3rd gen. He spent 30 seconds telling you about the bumpers and winch he was going to add. The rest of it was about what he carries in what amounts to a war wagon. Definitely overkill for the average and even not-so-average person.

Consider this: of all the major catastrophes and disasters you might face, what is more likely? A zombie outbreak? Terrorist attack? Being asked to help in a shoot out with bank robbers? Getting stranded on a highway shut down because of a winter storm? Getting out of Dodge in advance of a raging forest fire or imminent arrival of a hurricane? Having to get home after the city gets shut down in a total failure of the electrical grid? So, which one makes the most sense to prepare for and how would you prepare?

I don't need three different rifles, a shotgun, and a handgun stashed in my truck. A handgun should be more than adequate for any situation I might face but I don't leave it in the truck -- I always have it with me because going back to your truck to get a gun changes the whole dynamic about who the bad guy is, pre-meditation and all that jazz, and if I should need one it's going to be right now not "wait a minute while I go get my gun."

But a first aid kit? Sure; that's a no brainer and in Europe (Germany, at least) it's required of every motorist to have one in the vehicle. A fire extinguisher? Some flares? Some water? Some emergency food, even if it's just a box of granola bars?

Anyway, nice truck, nice loadout but certainly over the top as far as the average and even not-so-average person, in my opinion.

Should add a 3rd voting option for underwhelmed.

It's pretty much a stock truck. A rack and a lightbar and some junk in the backseat doesnt scream well thought out.

My maglight mount is more thought out than this thing.

It’s a start, unless your goal is to have the ability to attack something while you are conveniently in your truck. If he completes it as explained, I will give my vote of approval, otherwise I give it a “work in progress” vote.

Edit: in fears of sounding like “that guy”, most found on FB, it’s your truck, do with it as you wish and if it inspires other people,

Someone might want to let him know that he's not in late 1950's Vietnam.

As if that didn't scream "I'm a clown" enough, he's got guns & knives in there. Oh, and a few truck bolt-ons.

    LOL

    They're a lot of fun...

MP5 tucks nicely between the seat and the center console. so does a shorty M4.

Just curious, for those who know more about this sort of thing than me. How much would everything on a rig like the OP posted cost?

Like the rack and stuff on the truck, or all the guns and stuff on the inside?
