SPARE TIRE TPM

My Carista is on it's way! I will post results of trying to program new TPM's with the Carista.

 

My spare tire arrived last night. Big question now should i get a fifth TPM sensor for the spare tire so i can rotate it on and off?

 

Yeah! I would. 5 tire rotations will give you the most bang for your buck. Imagine a set lasts you 4 years on average. Now it will last 5

 

Watching. I have a matching spare and Techstream. Just need to order a tpms sensor

 

So I recently swapped my stock wheels. 19 TRD pro.
I put on TRD 4Runner wheels with new Toyota TPS sensors.
No tire monitor lights turned on the info. Dash.
They auto learn?

 

Ok Just received Carisa and programmed all 4 sensors in less then 5 minutes. My light is now off but when i scroll to check air per tire it doesnt show any air pressure readings or even have the tires on the truck display gauge. Maybe needs some time not sure whats up with it! BUT THE LIGHT IS OUT!!!

 

Carista worked great ! All tires registered and programmed, warning Light is off and truck displays all 4 tire pressure's!

 

No, unless you will be getting it coded each time you rotate it in.

The computer can only store anda display four sensors.

 

Didn't know it can now do TPMS. Fucking mint

 

If only they still had a lifetime option.

 

If you have a reputable tire shop, or really any tire shop near you with a tpms tool they should be able to swap the sensor over during rotate no problem.

In our shop we break the bead near the sensor, hold the bead down while removing the sensor and replace the sensor with a rubber valve. Do the same thing on the spare that is to be mounted on the truck but replace with the tpms. Don't need to re-balance the wheel/tire as the tire position on the wheel doesn't change (but we do anyways). Lastly, do a tpms system relearn.

Might add 10-15 minutes to your wait at the shop but you wouldn't need to purchase a new sensor and worry about having to mess with programing. Just be sure to give the shop a heads up when scheduling.

 

Sorry, probably is a bad Question... I just received the new set of the Wheels TRD 17", I thought that I could change the Sensors from the Originals Wheels to the new one, they just have 300 miles on them ... Is it possible? or DO I have to buy a new kit of sensors? if so, do you know the part number? My plan is keep the originals Fireston while I could save some more money ....

 

Yes you can read the ID with a scanner, or even $10 SDR connected to a computer.
Yes system will re-calculate location of wheels.
My factory spare actually came with TMPS in it, and it seems to a act like the system actually knows it’s their, just does not display information. So I think system actually has 5 slots.
You can also get temperatures from the TPMS, factory system doesn’t display that, but any SDR will also pick that up.
