Wanted some input on this winch. I have a chance to pickup a used in good condition Smittybuilt X20 10k Synthetic rope winch for $300.

    Worth it or pass?

Smittybilt makes decent winches, with great warranties
but I would not put one on my truck
If you get stuck and your own somewhere you don't want to wish you had bought a better winch
I've herd too many stories of people wishing they had spent the extra few $ on a warn
Both of my trucks have warn winches and I can go buy any part I need to rebuild them

Dang... was hoping for something positive:) Why are these winches so expensive. It’s like a I rather have and not need then need and not have situation.

Shit just got real up in here. 4x conversion is almost ready to commence!

    Nice. Looking forward to this.

Did you think about doing a manual transmission while planning the 4x4 conversion?

Ok... All these bad ass pictures of the Death Valley trip are kicking me in the ass to do some things on the truck.

I'm hoping to call a mod day (or mod days) and I'm putting out feelers on when people may be available.

I have a freaking laundry list of shit waiting to do on the truck. I have the parts, here, to do the following...

    -Rebuild CVs
-Replace seals and mounting bushings on front diff
-Press new bearings/hubs/upper ball joint races in spindles
    -Paint spindles
    -Install spindles, CVs, front diff

-Replace valve cover gaskets, plenum gaskets, spark plug well gaskets, cam plugs, clean throttle body, PCV and grommet (I'll be ordering new plugs, wires, fuel filter and throttle body gaskets as well)

I'm also ordering new transmission filter, shift kit, carrier bearing and Ujoints (that will be the rest of what I need to install Transmission and Tcase)

I also have brackets for ditch lights, and a 42 inch curved roof mount led... And I just received a set of 100W halogen Hella Rallye lights that I need a bumper to mount them on.

We're going to Oklahoma for Brennen's Basic Training Graduation this weekend (be back the 19th), then it's basically Christmas. I'm hoping to dive in to some of this after Christmas.
