There are no marking to indicate a manufacturer. It's not ridged enough to do anything with small tolerances.

I am not sure it looks like a pattern holder for wood lathe work allowing for the tipping ability and indexing pin on the gear I will cross post it to vintage machinery board I am on and see if anyone knows for sure. Google image search just comes up with WOOD lol . It could be an assembly jig of some sort also though, with no manufacturer , part numbers etc that implies it is part to or of another piece of equipment.

It is posted we shall see if someone can positive id it . Below is the post with out the pictures.

    "
    Hey All,
I was asked if I could identify this piece and I am at a loss It is out of my wheel house in a big way.
What it appears to me to be is a pattern jig for a wood lathe or part of one as the person asking states there are no markings on it. The gear end picture shows a detent similar to an indexing jig for machining of some type. It is light weight based on the statements by the person so unless it has to do with watch making I figure wood work. Leading me to believe it is part of another piece or machine. Would anyone here have a positive ID ?"

Second board post a little more info as these guys have been able to id stuff you would not believe lol but you have to point out some things if not there will be a lit of questions up to and including color of paint. And yes it does make a difference there were many companies making things for other companies . So you could have a part that is exactly the same with the exception of color that would go on several machines.

I was asked if I could identify this piece and I am at a loss It is out of my wheel house in a big way ( deal with metal working machines mostly).

The longer rod on at the base is steel and the between the cast end frames and gear system, threading looks like acme, it is not something fabricobbled for a task. Leading me to believe it is part of another piece or machine. Would anyone here have a positive ID ?"

    Top of the morning y'all...

40, in the middle of Florida, something so wrong with this... But hey, at least it makes us believe in December... Now if we could just have something other than a 90 degree Christmas day we'd be stylin here..

Still cleaning up yesterday's user debacle!! Been on remote at the office since 0-dark-30... But hey, I still have a job... Win that powerball and I'd give it up so QUICK!!

Y'all have a great day.. BTW, just in the spirit of TW 50+ I changed my avatar.... That my friends is the view from the flight deck of a 1941 B-25J Medium Bomber flying up the east coast of Florida on a wonderful Oct. day... I love when I get to play Flight Eng. on her!!
