What part of VA??? I’m ten minutes from the state line. I could meet you in Blacksburg.

I'm about an hour and a half from Blacksburg. Not that's that's a huge deal but I work weekends and have a baby at home. So time is precious haha.

I have a few friends in that area. Let me see if one of them can help me out. I'll get back to you soon.

She said she’d split the cost of a tent because she thought it looked awesome. Who am I to turn that deal down?!

Same girl who said ‘yeah the T4R Pro looks badass, but your truck is sexier.. and a stick shift.’

    Wife that.

I just can't see myself hauling 2 dogs up and down a ladder while sauced after wheeling. Same with a hammock. Those type of sleep systems don't work too well with dogs or more than 2 people. IMO.
Also, after seeing the folks I wheel with who have/had RTTs cringe every time a limb drags their roof, no thanks. If I lived in a more open part of the country, I can see its merit.

Her mom already called me her future son-in-law, but that was after I took them both Christmas shopping in Pittsburgh and we stopped at a brewery first to get them lubed up. Her mom got drunk and told me I'm too smooth for my own good haha.

Her dog has a ways to go before she'd cooperate in a tent. She sleeps in a kennel 100% of the time by choice. I've never seen a dog go into a kennel with the door open as it's safe space for sleep. She was a mess when we went to our parents and I didn't set a kennel up because I thought there'd be NO WAY she wouldn't love being in a new place with new smells. I barely slept with all her crying - lesson learned.

No way I'd run a RTT with a full height rack. I told her we'd likely have to get a ground tent for a bit while I piece together the camping gear and a nicer set of rear springs to support gear and all the extra weight (plan for a dual swing out bumper in the future).

    Nice, where ya gonna be?

Wanna try and use that group as an easy way to set up meets around the state for weekends / group buys / discounts we have access to. I have access to a few nice discounts that I'll post via PM or on the group, perks of having some military experience and traveling I guess. Just don't wanna post up here to expose vendor pricing similar to GBs that go on and get shut down.

    I smell a trap.

My oldest does this, but she also doesn't miss a chance to crawl in bed with us either. She's always gone to her crate on her own when she senses I'm leaving the house or is in trouble. The 7 month old pit, he is a wallowing ball of 65lb stubborn love muffin, and hates the crate.

I've also always slept in ground tents my entire life and don't see a need to change it. Did it as a young man in the BSA, do it as a 30-something now.

I need new rear springs too. My stocks with AAL have seen their share of use, especially with a cap on there now. Like you @kakwvu, I want a rear swingout eventually.

Don't I know it. Good thing I'm reaching in this relationship and she's settling.

Luna (1.5 year old GSD mix) will get in the bed to wake us up, but that's it. It blows me away.

Jay (12 year old Pit-Boxer mix) is the same as your pit.. he has never wanted a damn thing to do with a kennel. He's broken two, and figured out how to unlock a third. He's weak in his old age and my parents won't give him back to me from their house since moving back.. they've grown attached to that lap dog.

I'm using the All Pro "standard" currently and it'll likely suit me for a bit. I've hauled some rock with it and it didn't seem to squat much, but I've seen some other guys running the same setup and they've had to take bed racks off because it was squatting so bad with minimal sustained weight. I've read the expo pack is better, but I think I'll go a different route next time, especially if I plan on running a bumper.

I'm going to suck it up, deal with a stiffer ride, and get HD leaf packs of whatever brand. I like the cap too well to take it off when I'm not "using" it. The ability to haul necessary daily gear along with 2 kids, the GF, and 2 dogs in an access cab is paramount. Before the cap, I seldom even had proper tire changing tools in the truck. That was not okay at all with me.

I’ve looked at OME, Deaver, and Alcan. They all make me cry inside.

A double cab was a must for me when I looked, then again, I didn’t have a choice either when the hunt for a 6MT began as it only comes in one option. My truck came with the OEM trifold as well, so I keep a full size spare, recovery bag, and bed mounted hi lift in there at all times.

I got a quote from Alcan. $700. Which is the same price as the ones from PA/MD sold by a member here. Both get great reviews and etc.

But, for ~$200 cheaper, I'll deal with the OME squeak and get their HD pack.
