Just wondering, since I took it off my truck, my gf says you're required by law to have two plates.
But some people have told me otherwise.

    what's the law?

Yes Texas law requires a front license plate. How many police officers enforce this law.....not many.

when I lived there you had to have both plates on the vehicle. I had my front one in the front windshield area and I kept getting pulled over for it.

That law didn't pass. You need both.

    DPS will enforce it, heavily.

I came over an overpass in a lexus IS doing a buck 20 w/o one. She promply pulled me over and said I needed to put my tag back on the bumper. No ticket. I think they aim laser at it.

    Yes, it’s required.

    It’s heavily enforced at 2:30am Friday/Saturday nights.

I've been pulled over for it. Twice. Once got a ticket, once got a warning. It's just a fishing tactic but nonetheless, it's the law.

You’ll get pulled over by a trooper if he/she is fresh out in the field and has something to prove. Seasoned vets will not pull you over for just a missing front plate though.

I have my plate in my windshield. I know it’s just a matter of time but nothing yet. But I don’t drive all crazy to. Well not all the time.

Not sure of the LAW, but I have been pulled over by DPS for not having a front plate. It was a warning and away I went. :notsure:

For me it’s because the longer I can go with out making holes in my bumper the better. I moved to Texas a year ago from Vegas. It was a law but in the 15 years of living there never got pulled over. I didn’t even have it on the windshield. I know Texas is like Cali with the law just not as strict. I would never put my plate in the windshield in Cali. I always had it on th cover.

Two plates. Don't give them a reason to pull you over. Additionally, if you go out of state other state troopers will pull you over.
