NO automatic can be completely predictable except if it allows you to completely take over the gear selection (which some do).
Example: driving on an icy snow covered highway and you need to go to pass someone. You want to accelerate GENTLY because of limited traction. You marginally increase the throttle in order to accelerate gently, but its on the threshold of a shift. Does it shift? Or does it NOT? What happens if it shifts? Well, it suddenly dumps on the torque and breaks your back wheels loose and tries to murder you.

Google S mode and shift manually.
    Trac control also.

It sounds like you are incapable of a rebuttal and are now shifting into personal attacks. I'll take that as my queue to hit the ignore button on you. Bye now.

IMO with an offroad vehicle I feel way more safe with an auto. I've had and have friends with manuals that have found ourselves in some sketchy situations on the trail when a clutch was involved.

Manuals are for driver sport cars. Something that connects you to the road and the car. They are also safer as your more focused on driving than Facebook. It's also a great millennial anti theft feature.

Auto all the way for drag racing. Only way to go fast.

I have experienced this exact same thing multiple times. Pull out and its in like fucking 4th gear from a dead stop or what ever it "thinks" it should be in. Give more and more gas trying to not get T boned by other cars while it tries any other gear than 1st. Finally goes to 1st gear and I have my foot in it so it spins tires...still going no where until traction control kicks in.

Also same thing has happened trying to go around someone up a hill. Get into left lane and give it gas.....nothing.....give it more gas.....nothing.....give it more gas.......redline in 2nd gear and spin tires. Ok great just trying to go by someone gently in the left lane up a slight incline and I end up looking like a jackass spinning my tires as I go by :anonymous:

The solution for me atleast is my wife and I never drive the truck with out the ECT button on. This is the only thing that seems to help. Truck is currently for sale if anyone is looking LOL 17' Quicksand TRDOR DC with OME lift and SCS/BFG KO2

The truck is my wifes daily and she still loves it. To me its just meh. We have 30K miles on it and lifted it/did shit to it so apparently we didnt hate it that much because we drive it quite a lot. Only reason we are selling is because we have a newborn and getting rid of the payment and getting a GX470 with more room for the kiddo.

I agree I shouldnt have to hit the ECT button every time I get in a "new" truck. I have had Toyota trucks before and was always happy with them because they were relatively cheap. I think the reason so many are unhappy is the trucks are so expensive and honestly not that great. Im 38 and have owned over 50 cars spanning modified trucks, sports cars, work cars etc. This truck isnt that bad......but for $40K its just not that great.
