Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

S-5 won't do anything for it hanging on to 4th too long. It's a limiter.

 

True, it is a limiter, but when 4th is hanging on too long for me and I shift into S5, the truck will shift into 5th. Every time.

Doesn't make sense, but it works.

 

Can anyone help me on this.. 2016 TRDOR auto... flashed the ECU and now need to do the TCU but don’t know where to load that file from. So I tried to reflash the ECU back to stock and my laptop shutdown in the middle of the flash. When I restarted the laptop the p5toyflash won’t open. Emailed Matt and waiting for a response but if anyone else can help me with this I’d appreciate it.

Couldn’t find it but I tried re-downloading it and my computer keeps deleting it because it says it has a virus even after disabling all antivirus. I can figure out the virus thing but I’m really wondering where to find the TCU file

There is no tcu for 1.04. just flash the ECU and you're golden. Just flashed the same tune yesterday.

 

I forgot to disable Norton and it quarantined the p5flash. All good after I restored it.

 

Yes I'm aware of that, my truck just shifts differently in S mode than it does in D mode.

agree with the upshift too quickly. Experienced this this morning in my commute. Ive been using "S" mode a lot more lately to keep up with traffic

 

S mode actually makes it hold gears longer than D.

I have not had a chance to get the blog finished and up yet, sorry. I'm been doing tons of logs to finish up 1.05

and regarding 5th/6th gear I've changed this extensively on 1.05. I took some videos of cruising around at 70MPH that I'll show you guys when I have the chance.

 

That's become my solution too, but one of the main reasons for this tune (in my opinion) is making D mode useable...
@OVTune , has this/can it be addressed in 1.05?
I feel like this particular behavior is even worse than stock on 1.04R.

Yes I have worked on the shifting extensively for 1.05. it will hold 5th and 6th gear much better than anything in the past..ever.

Also, I don't know if you guys will like it or not but I have made it possible to cruise in 5th at low speed, like 45-50mph. RPMs will be around 1100-1200 rpm but it has no problems maintaining at that.
(a little more throttle it will go to 4th if you don't like that). Unlike stock tune or before, it won't be dead at 1100 rpm.
