You want to be able to open the OEM cover with a cab height rack?

If you dont need the cover to open then I could build the rack on the mounting system that works for you. But to get the cover to be fully functional it would be best to do it all from scratch.

Also I'm not trying to compete with anyone, just a local fabricator keeping my thread updated. I like to build what someone is looking for to their specs. Also my sets of bed bars are cheaper and my bed racks are notched and tig welded creating a solid structure the will not wiggle or have 50 bolts that constantly need to be checked. And my prices on my racks are priced the same as every other manufacturer except this is for something built to your specifications for $600.00.

I prefer to tig everything except where they mount to the angle, that gets mig.

All done. This one is going to powder coating Friday. Cab height with 4 tent mounting tabs, 2 light tabs and 2 plates to add an awning later.

Been subbed for awhile and enjoy the progress. Definitely interested in sliders when you get into that realm, as I am somewhat local.

Hey OP, I'm right up the road from you.

I'll hit you up sometime for a custom bed rack. I was looking at buying a tubing bender, tube notcher, drill press, etc etc. and making & selling them myself, but too much time and effort with little to no reward.

Know any good powder coating places in the area?

Yes there is very little profit margin. I don't buy steel 1000 feet at a time so I don't get much if a break but I enjoy it. There are a few powder coaters in the area that do great work but 1 is expensive, they like quantity that's why I usually use the spray bedliner. The one I delivered today is being coated this weekend.

Ordered, made and delivered in 24 hours. It couldn't have been delivered faster if it was sitting on a shelf somewhere.

I hope to be doing sliders in the spring, I'm working on a cnc plasma table in January so I can cut better looking mounting plates.

I will have all of my mounting plates cut on a plasma with slots and formed from now on for better fit. I should have the first parts in a few weeks.

Can you make some brackets to work with a cover that sits on top of the bed. Would still like to be able to open the cover.

No. But the only way I see it working would be to extend the bracket that bolts to the bed out farther maybe use 1 1/4 tubing so it doesn’t stick out so much.

If your local to Gastonia NC and need a bed rack for you roof top tent. I would like to provide 1 bed rack at no charge to someone in my area that also posts in this and other forums. It is the rack pictured above, The rack and mounting hardware will be provided for FREE. I would really like this to go to someone that will use it and not sell it on Craigslist next week.

Is Seattle, WA local enough? Seriously though. Nice work. I've enjoyed reading through your thread and seeing your fabrications.

There was a bed rack posted a while back, that had an upturned tail. It got a lot of positive feedback. You should take a look and see if it's something you could get inspiration from. I'll see if I can find it.

Definitely something that can be done, top tube just has a little kick in the back. All that little detail work with the other tubing definitely takes more time/$$. And it also looks to be aluminum/$$$$.
