Clear coat fading !

From what I was told yesterday it has to be a Toyota certified bodyshop.

 

Any updates?
I’m having a similar issue, paint started fading on the front passenger fender. I can barely see it but we know where this is going
mine was built in Texas (5TF)

 

Dropped my truck off at the dealership last Friday. Toyota reps did their thing and then they took it to the bodyshop for a quote. They are planning on painting from the front of the bed forward. Wait to hear from the dealership when corporate gives them the go ahead to do the job. And mine was a Mexico build.

 

Get the partial repaint in writing indicating exact match because if there is not a perfect match between the box and body, you will/may have recourse. Mexico build or Texas, makes no difference as Toyota uses the same quality control procedures and products. VW, Ford, GM, etc. all have vehicles made in Mexico.

 

That was my plan, along with some sort of warranty for the new work.

 

Which dealer was this?

 

Going on week number two of my truck being in the shop for paint. Atleast the dealer gave me a decently equipped Camry to drive around in while I wait.

 

Toyota's have shitty paint jobs on them. I use a good carnauba wax. It keeps the paint looking like glass.

 

There is shitty and then there is paint completely missing. Mine was the later of the two. On a less than two year old truck. Completely unacceptable. I just hope the body shop does a good job otherwise they get to so it again until they get it right.

Edit, forgot to give props for clean and shiny. I like clean and shiny. I also like mud. I do not like cleaning mud though so it stays clean except on special occasions.

 

Hey guys quick update so after arguing with them almost 3 months since they only wanted to do spot repair and the paint was only getting worse I met up with a rep yesterday and I was able to get a full cab paint job so everything except the bed will let you guys know how it goes

 

That's what they are doing to mine. Cab forward.

Dropped it off Monday the 3rd. Was told a week turn around but haven't heard anything yet

My dealer told me 3 weeks , let me know how it goes

 

I'm hoping I was quoted wrong and it's just taking the normal time and not that they screwed something up and have to fix even more

 

@DCSBMurph & @Axelcarvajal I'm gonna check mine today. Do you know what mileage and length of time Toyota would have covered this up to?

 

hopefully not man give the truck a good look over once you get it back don’t accept crappy work

 

I think it's a 3yr 36k warranty but I'm not 100 percent sure

 

If I’m not mistaken i believe your paint is covered 3 years / 36,000 miles
