They called it a 15+3. 18 total with a 3 foot dovetail but the angle of the dovetail is shallow.

...The truth was, this was a day we'd all been looking forward to - but perhaps no one more than me. This was the day that we'd return to what was the trail that pushed me the hardest the year before; the trail on which, I confided to Mike - "This is right on the edge for me." It was also the trail where Frank had called it quits - nearly twice - and where we'd banded together to get out in one piece. It was Boulder Basin.

Read and see what happened this year: The Re-Tour Day 8: Boulder Basin, My Favorite Trail

Just did my oil last night, I'm guessing it's the supercharger and running maybe a little rich but at ~4k miles my full synthetic oil starts to get really dark. I know it's not wise to judge oil solely based on it's color but just something I've noticed more lately. Switched over to Pennzoil full synth 5w30 a little while ago

Keep meaning to send a sample out to Blackstone labs one of these days just to see what they have to say

Pennzoil is super rich in detergents too, lots of folks use it as a cleaning oil. Like I'll run three break ins of Pennzoil for 500mi each after I get the Z together. So it isn't uncommon for it to pull lots of shit out of your engine and turn black.

Yeah I've heard that about Pennzoil as well, I use the full synth kind that they formulate for "turbocharged engines" (according to the label) - guessing they factor in the added richness of boost into the formulation, but it might just be a gimmick. I noticed the dark oil happening with Mobil 1 back when I used that, now that I think about it...I think I started noticing it more when I switched to synthetic.

Just read this on Pennzoil's website regarding their turbocharged engine oil formulation...

• Low-Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI) is an abnormal combustion phenomenon observed at low engine speeds in which the fuel/air mixture in the combustion chambers ignites before spark timing. LSPI can cause engine knock, broken spark plugs and cracked pistons, and, in severe cases, catastrophic engine failure.
• There are multiple theories about what causes LSPI in downsized TGDI engines, although it is widely accepted that motor oils can play a role. Research has shown that during LSPI a drop of oil in the cylinder may be combining with fuel droplets to create hots spots in the combustion chamber and prompting ignition before spark timing is intended to occur. Research has also shown that motor oils can be re-formulated to significantly reduce their contribution to LSPI, which is the goal of the new API SN PLUS supplemental motor oil specification.
• GM chose to address LSPI with the introduction of its dexos1™ Gen 2 specification, which went into effect on September 1, 2017
Considering my past (and somewhat current lingering issues) with pinging, I guess it's wise to continue to run this blend

Pre detonation from octane correction is different from LSPI. LSPI can bend connecting rods.

For whatever reason, you typically see it cause damage in turbo charged applications where peak Torque is around the 1,600 rpm region making upwards of 10+ pounds of boost. You wont see those conditions in a supercharged 3.4L

Well as long as it doesn't hurt anything, lol. I always run 91 but mostly resolved the matter with the 7th injector and adding more fuel to the mix. Someday might look into a methanol kit as well to help with cooling the intake better since that is still an issue, especially when it's hot out. Which of course would have the added benefit of increasing the octane more.

And letting you run more timing so it actually feels speedy rather than slow with lots of boost

What does a bad sway bar link sound like? Ive had a clunk on the drivers front for quite some time. Only when I go over bumps. The passenger side is new as the link had to be cut to install my lift.

I tubbed my firewall a couple of years back to fit 35's. At that time I had my adjustable coil overs at about 2 inches of lift and a wheelers leaf pack with 1 inch shackles out back. Recently I installed a crawlbox with new heavy wheels and sticky tires and was worries about snapping CV's so I lowered my coil overs for an almost flat CV angle. The front is probably sitting at 0 or maybe .5" of lift right now and I'm thinking about either pulling my overload leaf in the pack or going back to factory length shackles to lower the rear.

I keep looking at the truck sideways to level it out o_O because it's driving me nuts, but my steering rack took a dump in the middle of the crawlbox install so I haven't had any time to adjust the rear. :sadviolin:

This is what it looked like before I lowered the front

Nope. No rubbing even when turning fully stuffed.

I'm not into lift as much as flex, strength and clearance.

Lift is actually the last thing you want when your driving sideways offroad

Diff drop has absolutely nothing to do with tire clearance. In fact it does little to anything to help anything.
