I am.... still tacoless. Couldn't make it north last night. Wife want's to go tomorrow afternoon. Might do that, might wait 'till the weekend to see if an OR will pop up somewhere close. Also, talking to a good friend in the wrap business. Might be able to expand my options if something like that is affordable to me.

 

Any issues? How have your superbumps been?

 

The rears are great. I've heard the fronts are a bit of a pain to install and you have to cut the allen key to fit.

Who knows Va gun law well?

I've got a friend who is just turning 20 who wants to buy a handgun. I know that per Virginia law, you can't buy one from a dealer under 21 but you can buy one private sale. Since OC is allowed, would that count if the firearm is kept in the glovebox of a vehicle when occupied?

I also know FFXCO has some weird regulations about transporting firearms.

 

Keeping a firearm in a glove box is legally considered concealing it but is an exception for which a concealed carry permit is not needed. I will try to find the Code for you. As far as whether you can do that and be under 21, I am unsure, but can look into.

 

I tried looking it up, but I couldn't find any straight answers on the second part.

The glovebox thing appears to be an exception as long as it's concealed in a locking compartment, but it still is considered legally OC W/O a CCW as long as it's visible.

As far as the age issue, I would call State Police. They will probably give you a quicker answer than I can.

I remember reading this before, that in an unlocked glovebox doesn’t require a ccw, and the attorney general also offered his opinion on it.

 

I'm gonna ask a couple of my LEO buddies a bit later.

Bingo. My unprofessional, non-legal advice opinion would be that someone who is age 18-20 would be able to carry a handgun in their glove compartment without a CHP because they are, pursuant to that (C)8 section: "lawfully possess[ing] a firearm."

That would be my opinion as well. And as long as the driver is smart about any traffic stops then there shouldn’t be any issues.
