Also curious, I may have to start digging under the couch cushions if the discount is decent lol.

Not a Tacoma but figured you guys would know. How durable are the nylon lines with road debris or whatever? I’ve got the option of mounting the pump horizontally or vertically. Both have their pros and cons. Horizontally the line is exposed through the lower grille but the pump is completely up and out of the way. Vertically the pump is exposed slightly, but the line is out of the way, and the inlet is at a lower point.

I think the lines would be durable enough but you could always wrap exposed hose with some rubber hose or wire loom for extra protection. I would prefer the pump be more protected myself.

    I second this idea.

Hmm...now that I think about it I do believe I have a roll of gates fuel hose I can use to slip the the injection hose into.

That or some convoluted tubing from a home improvement store works great. I wrapped mine in convoluted tubing

@Athlaos at what point does your meth start spraying boost level-wise? I've been noticing a good amount of consumption, and im trying to figure out if its drinking that much, or if I still have a leak somewhere. Gonna fill up with fuel and meth next time and see how long the tank lasts. I think I am just not used to the consumption yet.

You guys were talking about on/off for water/methanol, I have my switch in the cabin for the 1st stage water/methanol injection, as you know @rjbiii. There is another switch in the engine bay for the stage 3 system.

The stage 1 starts at 5-6psi. The stage 3 starts at 9psi.

I think you said yours was 3psi, that's pretty low, in my opinion it's not needed and/or there would be no benefit below 5psi.

Good to know, I will tone mine back and make it start spraying later then around 5psi.

Straight from the instructions. CLR is the stuff to use, or some other kind of calcium remover

The term "combustion quench" brings to mind one of my big questions about this system - for those of us already running overly-rich TRD tunes/OVTunes + FPR, how much more rich will the AFRs dip, and will it bog down the motor when running methanol. I'm assuming there is a not much bogging or noticeable issues with combustion quench based on what many of you are saying. Also sounds like there is even more power left on the table to be gained by proper tuning to adjust AFRs into the sweet spot when using Methanol.

I went through 2 pumps in less than 6 months mounted in a location similar to this. The water will get inside that motor housing and lock it up. Now it's in my engine bay.

I have the FPR mod, 2.6, and TRD tune right now, and when it sprays, it gets down to 10.0-10.3 on each bank and never gets any richer than that. I think the TRD tune is just adapting by calling for less fuel to be sent in order to keep the AFR in the 10s. I was expecting it to be in the 8 or 9 range, but im guessing the ECU is just cutting the amount of fuel needed to maintain a given AFR. I had mine turn on when boost got to 2psi initially, and it still never bogged down. Not sure if my truck is just an exception to the rule, but I was expecting it to bog with injection that early..

Edit: said this previously, but I will remove FPR mod this weekend, and see what the AFRs look like at WOT

Re-edit: after some more research, figured out my AEM gauges only go down to 10:1 AFR (no richer) so my truck is likely running extremely rich. Took the FPR mod off during lunch today, going to do some testing with the 2.6 and see what it takes to dial in the AFRs

I have the Coolingmist progressive failsafe setup, but I'm considering running it off my F/IC. I can make lots of boost below 3,000 rpm. Say I have progressive meth to start at 8psi, it may activate at 2,700rpm and the truck will misfire (combustion quench) badly, timing retard, and lose me rolling street races (hypothetically). A PSI start point is only half the battle. You really need to start injection after 4,000rpm in my experience. If I set my meth to come on 100% at 12psi, no problems whatsoever. But then why did I pay so much more for the progressive setup?? LOL I also have a super safe rich AFR (around 11.5 at 14psi), so YMMV. I like to put a few gallons of e85 in the tank before I go drag racing to lean it out.

I’m open to suggestions but there’s a serious lack of space. I even downsized to the 2 qt tank.

If it's somewhat shielded from the elements and has some airflow around it should be fine.
