Poison Spyder makes a hood louver for antiglare and heat dissipation for the Jeeps. I did some measuring today and know that it should fit but haven't seen anyone out there with this on a Taco just yet. Thoughts?

Curious if you ever installed the louvers. Thinking of doing the same on my 2003 tacoma. Looked at 2-3 that might work. Your selection being one of them.

I think the problem with the one you selected is that it goes back far to the rear edge of th hood... there's a brace in there. However my thought was that if you cut the louver panel so that its straight across you dont need to bring it all the way nack to rear edge. That wa.. those scalloped corners dont scream "this is a jeep part on a toyota".

No, because nobody is cutting a giant hole in their new truck hood to install a non-necessary mod that is not even made for the same vehicle.

    Also because its heinous looking.

Plus being I have a 2003 Tacoma... its far from being new hood. mines superchargerd. I cant help but wonder if the louvers might let some of that heat out and reduce air intake temps. Likely not. But I still think it might add some cool factor being its supercharged and all... (???)

About two weeks ago i saw a 3rd gen with a hood louver on the street. It really didn't look bad at all but i wonder if it was a carbon hood instead (?) The truck was black so it blended in really well!

Actually this one from Poison Spyder is one of the louver panels I thought might be best on a 1st gen... maybe minus the "T" in the back which could easily be cut off. It might look great with the "V" shape the 1st gen hood-top has. Would go right down the middle. Ok. Said my piece in that area.[IMG]

I have one on my YJ and it does help with engine temps. I'm not convinced you need one unless you spend a lot of time on trails but if you think it looks cool go for it

I was reading more about louvers on another thread. Interesting in that it not only is stated to reduce under-hood heat at slow speeds on the trail but also shared (in the other thread) that it will increase airflow through the radiator at speed by increasing air flow through the engine compartment. No real facts to confirm but it kinda makes sense if you think about it. Open a window on one side of a room... leave a door open on the other side... and air will flow. path of leat resistance, blah, blah, blah.
