Someone over in the AT Habitat thread asked about my battery box, so decided I'd repost my response in here:

Box is just made of some plywood, a 2x10 or 2x8 (can't remember right now), and a piano hinge.

Here are the base dimensions and rough drawing. Base being 21in wide on the end with the Battery switch, and the top being a 24 x 39 rectangle. The red lines are the 2x10s, The blue line over the red is where the piano hinge is located. The blue line generally depicts where the "door" is that opens up to see what's inside, piano hinge being the longer blue line. The 16in end towards the cab does NOT have anything covering it, giving more ventilation for any heat from the electrical.

My fridge is quite large at 75L. With the Habitat closed I cannot open the doors fully, but I still have no trouble packing it with full sized gallon jugs and such. I just can't remove the internal basket in the fridge without popping the Habitat loose. It's never been an issue though.

If you've got any other questions let me know. It was REALLY easy to make the box, and CHEAP.

    Thanks dude!

I've loved putting it together and using it. Can't wait for the next round of upgrades... ARB Awning, hot water system... bumpers...

This picture just popped up as a memory on FB. Seven years since I picked up my Tacoma. Seems so much longer ago. Still glad the Chevy dealer didn't wanna budge on the Silverado I had just test drove. Drove across the street and bought this beauty.

Spent our 20th night in the Habitat last night. Staying one more tonight, too.

Was a cold night over in Cheney, WA. Definitely found out what people mean about condensation when using a buddy heater. Maybe Propex is in our future.

Headstrong Offroad. Ordered straight from their website. They contacted me right away to make sure I knew there would be a lead time of x number of weeks since they are manufactured to order, I told them I was fine with that and they processed the order. They hit me up again as soon as they shipped. Was happy with the process.

And after nearly 6 months with them, I still couldn't be happier with the outcome.

I think at that things firing rate it would still take 12 hours to reach the number of likes that @ChadsPride has.

Wife got me one of those strings of fairy lights off Amazon. Just strung it up with some command strip light clips. Not an overwhelming amount of light, that's for sure, but much better than digging around back there with a flashlight.1229181150a.jpg

Another memory photo I found... crappy quality, I snapped a pic last night with my cell phone of an old physical photo.

Was spring or summer of 2012 over at the Bremerton drag strip. Was a run what you brung afternoon, which is how I was able to line up against my uncle's 'Cuda.

I was able to barely hit 85mph in the 1/4 ... a bit over 15s i think. A full 5 seconds slower than the purple 'Cuda.

Only rig I beat that day was a POS 80s Ford Escort. I was closer than I expected to a Silverado SS though. Now I'd prolly be hitting 70 and running 20s or so, haha. My truck has gained a lil weight.

Got a few things in the works right now.

    1. Not shown here, but I've got an ARB 2500x2500 with Deluxe Awning Room waiting for install.

    2. New "floor" made out of plywood over 6 milk crates.

Original plan was just for lifting them off, but I've since modded it a lil more to let the two end crates slide out from under the floor like drawers (was actually my wife's idea). The rest will still be accessed by lifting up the panels. All of which I'll be painting and topping with carpet.

More pics on this once I'm done.

    3. This is a little something I picked up on Craigslist just last night. Hoping it's all there. Was never installed. Nearly perfect. Some parts still in the bubblewrap. Originally planned to hold off on buying/installing a bumper til I also had a winch, but I'm thinking I don't want to wait that long to install this. We'll see!

Well, the original bumper is no more!

    DONE!!!0219192028.jpg

That ARB Bull Bar is one nice bumper.

Fogs and a winch will come a lil later. Need to adjust it a lil lower too, but hey, not bad for an evening after work!
