My reason to hate the dealer isn't time, its lack of trust.

The only time my dealer sees my truck is for warranty work, period. I have a mechanic do my service work. My mechanic name is Bill, Bill does my oil changes, Bill rotates the tires, Bill installed my lift kit, Bill aligned the front end, Bill knows my truck, Bill knows me. Dealerships suck, even the “good ones”. I have had to many dealership “mishaps “. Oil dripping off the skid plate onto a brand new driveway that was not mine, because they were to lazy to take it off. Oil all over the inside of my hood because they forgot to put the fill cap back on. I will make my own coffee and bagels thank you. I had a service writer tell I didn’t have zerk fittings on my drive shafts on my 2015 Tacoma, I told him there were 5 of them, and that he was ether a liar or incompetent. Please give me my keys back, I will spend my money elsewhere. If I make an appointment with my mechanic, I am back in my truck with confidence that it is done correctly. My mechanic uses all Toyota parts that are cheaper than what the dealership charges for the same parts on repairs. He buys all the parts from the same dealership, I’ve seen them delivered in there truck. Dealerships suck period.

Dealerships tend to have a very loose relationship with the term "express".

Hahaha! That is MY free time rate for doing what I choose, not what I'd charge others. Yeah, I find myself throwing parts at problems sometimes and have given in a few times for big $$$ fixes afterward. I look at it like the journey not the destination.

Sitting in a dealership for a while to get ToyotaCared? Sure. Paying a dealer for maintenance or fixes? Hell no! Although, I'm happy to wrench and hang with folks for even less than that. If you come to my garage, there's also keg on nitro. No charge. :D

The Kubota sounds like fun, esp since I miss the days on the little riding lawnmower, cutting several lawns in the neighborhood growing up. Now, we have this crappy patch of grass that is zero joy.

See above. Nothing crazy about it. I've wasted days doing valve checks on my bikes. On one, I saved about $1k each time for the $30 worth of my own labor.

But then, folks around here think its crazy to wash your own windows. . .

I knew a guy that consider his free time at Stripper Rate. He figured that if it cost more than about $20/min, or about the rate that he used to stuff in bills, he'd give it a shot himself.

No they can’t do warranty work. Toyota Care is a joke. Toyota May care, but the asshat that changes your oil doesn’t care. My mechanic Bill, he cares.

Only reason I would argue for sending your truck off to the dealer for oil changes and service is warranty reasons. They may try to reject some warranty issue over not "properly maintaining it". If you have all the dealer service records that can help over some warranty dispute.

I thought that was just a generic Toyota stock image. Is that really a dealership somewhere?

Man i feel lucky. My dealer is 5 minute away. I pull up to the express door at 10 minutes before 7:00 when they open, so i'm first in line. I'm usually pulling out of there at 7:20 or 7:30 at the latest. I've noticed they are very careful when they rotate the tires, and they use a torque wrench to tighten the lugs.

This whole thing seems like a simple answer... free oil change with possible longer wait; if you have time, then wait for the free. If not then suck it up buttercup and drop some cash at a shop.

I got a free burger on vets day and it was a longer wait because well.. it was free and others wanted free too.
