Agreed. Leasing is never the “best choice” from a fundamental standpoint. There can be lots of benefits for some “non-fundamental” reasons. People have a hard time meeting in the middle.

WHAT? Please tell me you are joking because you are severely financially misinformed. 400 a month only becomes a million if certain things happen and if the market doesn't go up, you are not gaining and depending on how you choose to invest dictates how much you can make. The real key to growth is employer match contribution. That in itself is the biggest return. After that, you are rolling the dice and to get to a million requires strategy and hope. This all is predicated on an increasing stock market. If it tanks as it did 2008, your money is gone. It doesn't matter how many shares you own. When you look at your 401k and it shows $2, that is all that you have. It could come back, but funny thing about money is that it is hard to make, but easy to lose. It never comes back as quickly as it goes. You don't need to believe me, just take a look at the top 10 biggest drops and compare that to the top 10 biggest gains.

That is pretty accurate. It is a better option that many of the bad options, but it is never a good option.

Spoke with the seller at length last night on the phone. He recently moved to MN and wanted something he could drive in the snow. His DD is an M3 and his wife's is an X5. Got the Taco via lease paying for the lease in full up front to avoid any interest. The Taco is almost never driven because it can't fit his two kids car seats. So rather than turning it back into the dealer as breaking the lease early and loosing some money - asked if someone would like to take it over. I have verified with Toyota Financial that it would indeed be just the $3k up front and the $200 transfer fee. Also, the maintenance is paid through 25k miles. I'm having the dealership inspect the vehicle as well and put in writing their findings before I sign anything. Thanks so much InfernoT for your insights and taking a look at my situation.

Some of us savvy marketeers buy high and sell low... it’s called “shorting the stock”. I routinely buy high sell low and buy low and sell high, easy money in this current volatal market. The more the market goes up and down like recent (last two years) the more crazy money to make..!

Don't most people come in here and complain that the tacoma is dated tech?

Leasing makes sense for certain vehicles like a BMW 7 series Merc S class or a Tesla, basically cars that will be so expensive to fix off warranty they're not worth owning outright.

Ok so first of all the guy is not smart and doesn’t understand leasing. Doing a one pay lease does not get you out of paying interest, you just paid it all up front.
