I have my order from OVtune coming as well. I was trying to get a head start on the software and update the calibration.

I think Mat's gear will be here in a day or so.

I am not sure if that will help in your current state? The details are in the linked thread, but I believe you need to ship out your ECU. OVT flashes are said to be unbrickable.

My own fault created some serious issues tonight. I wanted to expedite my truck 'upgrades' so I ordered another adapter from the web and downloaded some other software to get the latest toyota cals...and it crashed and then my truck would not start. It made it about 10% of the way and then said the cal could not work. I followed all the instructions, honestly. I'm not sure why it crashed, it just did. You can PM me if you have any questions or are thinking about doing this yourself.

On a positive note...OVTune is amazing and has outstanding customer service!

    @OVTune
You are awesome!!! Truck is back up and running, all thanks to Mat! He responded to me within a few minutes after my "help" email and he had the truck up and running within a few minutes.

I cannot thank him enough and am excited to get his tune/software installed when it arrives.

I have not. Really don’t know if I want to spend the time at the dealer to have them possibly not do it.
My truck now has 8500 miles and would swear it is running better than ever. Anyone else experience this? This seems to be the opposite of many that have the lastest update.

I updated mine at 9k. While I agree that it was running better as time went on, the update was a big difference.

After 5k on the update, it pulled the battery cables messing around. There was a subtle change afterward that I would say is from the ECU learning, but was insignificant compared to the benefit of the update for me.

    I'm just a fanboi. :D

Was this with Beaverton? I'm baffled at how unhelpful they were. The tech says he didn't notice any hesitation during the 1-2 shift and that no codes were popping up when they did the scan, so they can't update it for me.

    What a waste of time.

Wilsonville Toyota. Its a bit of a drive but they did it. I scheduled mine at 0930 I believe. 217 and I5 traffic had cleared (somewhat). ask them to do a health check.

Mine has reverted back to most of its bad habits after a few thousand miles. Only thing that is still great is the 1 to 2 shifts. But the shitty stumble at 1800 rpm is back and so is the 3000 rpm surge.

Just for grins, you could pull the battery terminals to see if it changes after a reset. You'll lose some settings on the center stack and head unit though.

Same here, although I attributed it to the colder weather. The surge isn't as bad as it used to be, but again there's a dead spot around 2k

Confused: Is this a TSB from Toyota or no? I see download files and the like.

Yep. All the info is in the first post, except the second TSB (TSB-0125-18). The TSB is the coverage and instructions. The CUW files are the software behind it that the dealer would install. Everything else discussed there is if you want to install it yourself without the hassle of the dealer.

Are the ‘19 guys having any of these issues with the surge and rev hang? Wondering if Toyota fixed this issue as I’ll be taking delivery of my ‘19 Pro MT this week.

All that we kind of know is that at some point during the 2018 MY production, the TSB was said to be incorporated on the line (ECU ID 04A71). Not that I don't trust TW'ers, but no pics were posted of this though. Just a few posters saying that the dealer said there was no update available for their 2018s.

So, I would assume the 2019s are updated. You might get more info on this in the AT threads since there are more of them around?

That said, in the best scenario, the TSB does not make the motor feel perfectly tuned. As posted here and in other threads, the general consensus is that the motor either feels the same, all the way up to drastically better. For the MTs folks, it has been generally posted that we can drive it like a normal MT, not needed to carefully tiptoe through every shift.

Did you test drive some 2019 MTs?
