I used to bike a lot in high school. Did some mtb races as well although I was never great. I love the rush of whipping through the singletrack! That's why I have been intending to get back into it.

    Lights for days! Sasquachified!
Literally did what you are looking to do over the past little bit. Just ate less quantities of food more frequently. No more big meals, small snacks periodically throughout the day. More exercise (hiking and mountaineering was my jam) and avoiding late night food.

Tl;dr - eat less, do more.

Nice! That's the basis of my plan. Don't eat like a piggy and get off my lazy ass! That and make it stick and make it a lifestyle.

I plan to be around when my twins (due in June) have kids of their own and I hope grandkids (great grands for me).

A little bit of potential public humiliation and a cash prize always adds a little inspiration.

I managed not to lose but I was more lazy than fat, and it got me going. I had a couple friends drop legit pounds though, and they likely wouldn't have if we didn't ask them in

How do you judge a winner if you're all in different weight classes? My friends that I would ask are all set to lose about 75lbs and are over 6 foot. No way I could lose that much when I'm only 5'7".

Percentage of starting weight. We did a shared Google doc to keep track. Pure honor system, but we did require a scale pic at final weigh in and cash was collected up front

... And if you lose $100 or whatever to your buddies, but you all lost weight, it's money well spent. I knew going in there was almost no way I'd even place with the hosses we pulled in to compete

    :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

My current bike is a giant Yukon I bought 9 years ago for about $600. Maybe that's why it's no fun. Now to convince my twins and wife that this is in their best interest. :D

    This and that...
Start reading labels too. You'll be surprised what you thought was healthy but loaded with sugar or carbs. Try a keep a 3:1 protein to carb ratio at least. Lots of veggies!

    Two food hacks:
    Cauliflower mashed potatoes, amazing!
Greek Plain Yogurt by Chobani instead of sour cream on mexican food, awesome!

Yeah...I've got a few war wounds over the last couple seasons.

3 broken fingers from various crashes
4 broken ribs on "Ribbon" in CO
9 stitches ALSO on "Ribbon" in CO
Shins look like Freddy Kreuger had a field day from the pedals.

Who says you can't ride when half your body is destroyed and on percocet:

great points people making about doing something fun for exercise instead of hitting the gym. That always worked better for me. Get into a basketball league or weekly pickup games, or whatever sport you fancy, soccer, flag football, etc. Mountain biking is another good one. I need to get my two bikes fixed. Can't drop the money on the badass bikes they have these days but my $600 heavy bike just means more work lol

Same here. But I am absolutely terrible at any sport involving catching or throwing. I ran track in HS because of that. Running I can do but we all know it sucks. So biking it is. I have 4 bikes but only one of them is serviceable. Maybe I can get my old Klein frame serviceable. But its full rigid, maybe a front shock should be in the plans.
