Is the aluminum one the same exact dimensions as the steel one ?

Or at least a small discount for those who have a rusted steel one. After a 1.5 years mine is in rough shape from the PC falling off. Which started weeks after installing it.

I've always like the functionality of the cap combined with my Softopper. I just don't think I can fork over another $100 to get the alluminium one.

No Tundra caps. There really isn't much demand for Tundra specific stuff.

Have you switched to better powder coating process now? My tailgate cap and bed rails are flaking off around all the edges and the material is rusty underneath. Installed in May, been exposed to ~2 inches of rain here in northern California since then, and I don't live next to the ocean.

I agree with the powder coating issues, the gate cap is top notch but the coating absolutely sucks. Probably repainting every year will work,,,,,. How about making them from stainless, worth the extra cash . Mitch.

 

They are made from aluminum now.

 

How much thicker is the aluminum version than the steel version? I put my steel one on in May and it's been holding up great, but I'd love for another 1/8' thickness to get my tonneu to seal without a bunch of extra weather strip.

 

The new aluminum cap is 1/8” thick.

Will this fit a 2019? I put a dent in my tailgate just below the factory cap, need something that hangs down about 3" lower to just past the fold/seam line
