What should I set my King C/O with OME HD leafs?

    Aloha All,

I'm sure there are many threads on here in regards to this topic or similar but I'd like to consult the knowledgable Taco owners here directly. I have Kings on all 4 corners and about to install the OME Heavy Duty leaf packs in the rear. I currently have the King C/O set at about 3 and 4 threads showing and the Icon AAL in the rear but sags a bit with gear, family, dogs, etc. Question, with installing the new HD packs what should I set the front coils to? Owners who have a similar set up, I would appreciate input, advice, pictures of your Taco as well for references. Thank you all!

Did you leave in the overload leaf? Might not be your solution, but just curious.

@Bertw192 yes I have taken it out. Could be my solution to put it back in and see how that goes but I'm afraid it's too late... I've already bought and received the HDs lol. But the way my truck is now, with all that mentioned in the truck at the same time, it sags a good bit.

I don’t own King’s, but with those leafs I set my threads to 7/8” on passenger and 1” on driver. Not sure if it matters but my shocks are extended travel and I’m running a lo-pro bumper and winch. I probably would have only needed 1/2”-3/4” without the bumper

@SpeySquatch any input helps man. I appreciate it. So you have the OME HD packs on your truck? With your set up, does the truck sit about level?

Had the HD pack and took out a leaf (3rd from top) because it was too stiff for the little weight I run. Only lost 1/4-3/8”, but the truck sits level with about 3/4” of rake. So with the leaf it would be about 1” of rake (which is ideal in my opinion and helps braking)

@SpeySquatch nice rig! Im thinking to leave the rear a little higher than the front so when the truck is loaded, it might sag to about level? I dont mind a small rake.

Good call. The rake goes away with mine when I add about 250lbs or so. Rake is good.

@SpeySquatch cool. I'm looking at lifting the front close to 2.5" or as close as possible?

Believe it or not I’m only 1.75” lift in the front. I like a smooth ride on or off road so I didn’t want to go higher, just enough to level out.

    Also those are 32” tires

@SpeySquatch wow. I have 265/70/17 right now and yours looks a little more lifted than mines. I think I'm only about an inch up front right now. I'm also looking to get 255/80/17 in the future.

    Tires make a big difference.
I almost went 255/80/17 but went 255/75/17 because it’s only 1” less but they weigh 15lbs (39lbs/tire) per tire less which can affect mpgs if you care. It’s my daily

I avg 16-17 mpg going to work in city and 19-22 on road trips and freeway

@SpeySquatch I'm about 50 50 on MPG lol. Work is about 5 - 10 min away for me, no highway to get there so that helps. About 20 to 30 min to get into the city and to some trails so I really dont travel too far and much. Occasional road trips here and there when we can find the time. What ply tire do you have?

Nice. I commute 19 city trafficfuckery miles each way. When the truck is outdoors with me I forget about everything stressful from city driving. They are just 4-ply but better ply material. I’ve never really had more than 4 flat tires in my life and it was all from debris in the road or a parking lot. In this pic I’m running the Falken AT3 265/75/16, which are a bit more heavy ~45lbs/tire, but are 6-ply

@SpeySquatch Falkens in 6ply?? The tire shop here locally said they only come in 4 and 10ply in 265/70/17 because that's what I have on now. I love the Falkens but I also have 4ply and looking to go with a 6 or 8 ply since I normally offroad by myself and dont want to catch a flat alone out in the trails. It seems the 255 80 17 only come in 10ply though. I know what you mean about city driving man, dont miss the daily traffic. I'm from Hawaii and now live on the mainland and Hawaii was bad.

They come in 6-ply, but not in the size you want. I would check this out:

Nice! Don’t sweat it on trail like that. All good at 20psi.

You truck pick has a weird fish-eye angle or the image is playing tricks on me, how much rake you got back there? I would run some (3+?) sandbags for a month to get those rears to settle, should ride super nice without them afterward...

Or crank the fronts up to an inch and you’d be sittin cherry

@SpeySquatch thanks. Most of the trails i frequent have shell rocks and sharp rocks. That's the only thing I'm worried about. Ive had these Falkens for less than 3k miles I believe and I've got some slices in um from the rocks around here. To this pics defense it was taken at a decline part of the trail so maybe that's why the rake looks more than what it seems. On level ground the rear is about an inch to 1.25" higher I think. Since this pic I have added sliders at which you can tell it dropped the truck just a little. With the truck fully loaded, the rear sits a little lower than the front. But I will definitely be turning up the C/Os once the OME packs are in. I've had this suspension set up for about 8 months now.
