Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has installed the fat bob's lift kit for the 5-lug. It is 100 dollars cheaper than ready lifts, and it comes with the longer travel rear shocks. So I guess long story short, how does the fat bob's kit compare to ready-lifts?

I got my lift from fat bob's and haven't had any problems...the ride isn't that far off from stock

I got a 3" lift (3" front spacer and AAL)

I know i'm a 6 lugger but thought i'd help ya out a lil

I got a 2011 Tacoma TRD sport and I have never lifted my truck before. I also have no knowledge of the different lift kits that are out there. I want to put a 3-inch lift with 32 inch tires. Can you all recommend something to me. I am going to for the look, I don't do any offroading.

I got the fat bob's one for the 5 lug. I think the only real difference between the readylift and the fat bob's is the way the spacer is constructed. The readylift is made from steel (?) pipe and plate while the fat bob's is machined from a solid piece of aluminum.

Also with the Fat Bob's kit you have a choice of long or short AAL. I got the long AAL, but it seemed like it was made for the 6 lug b/c it didn't lift the rear of the truck enough. They sent me another AAL to put in with it, which seemed to level the truck out. If you go with the Fat Bob's I'd make sure they have that issue sorted out.

I also got it without the shocks, so I can't comment on them. I got a pair of slightly used Bilsteins from a TRD for a little cheaper.

afd23a, thanks for the update. I ordered that fat bob's kit with the longer AAL as well, so let's hope they have the issue fixed.

It's the number of lugs on the wheels. The Prerunner and 4wd Tacomas have 6 lug wheels. The 4cylinder 2wd base non-Prerunner trucks have 5 lug wheels. The two different lug patterns also have different suspensions.

So it's been about a month since I installed my FB lift on my 08 5lug
I've noticed a strange sound coming from the front end when turning at stop. It's hard to describe a sound in message form. But it sounds like a metal rubbing/slipping sound. It's brief when it happens. Anyone have any idea what this could be? Thanks

get the lift. It allows you to get 31" tires and looks about the same height as stock 4x4
