I'm sure there's a few welders between me and Danny that might be closer to him, but I'd be willing to help if it comes to it.

    Have welder- will travel.

3" Old Man Emu kit installed, doesn't sit as high as the truck did before but couldn't get it to rub in my very primitive post-work poser flex test

I use Google password generator for every site except financial sites. It's easy, secure and Google stores then for me. My life is super easy. Until Google gets hacked. Lol

Good to know, thanks. I noticed it was down this weekend.

I found out this weekend that Flickr is going to start charging if you have more than 1,000 pictures now starting next year... And if you don't pay they delete photos...

Is it? It's only like $42 the first year so I was thinking of trying it.

How does that work? Any link or articles on how to set that up?

Going through my semi-regular dilemma. This was definitely brought on by seeing all of the daily-driven trucks being wheeled at the Toys for Tots run last weekend.

Dumped a bunch of money into my 4th gen this year just to keep it alive. A lot was deferred maintenance but a lot was just the nature of dealing with repairing a nearly fifteen year-old truck. It's in good shape now, I wouldn't hesitate to drive it cross-country and back tomorrow, but there's other things that will eventually need attention and the fact is that I don't drive it all that often and when I do, I spend most of the time wondering what to fix or replace or repair next.

The 5th gen I have is a truck I'll likely keep for a long, long while. It has the tech I want and the comfort I need. And obviously I love the capability, otherwise I never would have bought a 4Runner in the first place. I've put 7500 miles on the truck in the 3 months I've had it and absolutely love the thing.

Here's my dilemma. I could easily sell the 4th gen and use the money to upgrade the 5th gen to exactly what I want it to be. Suspension, sliders, skids, wheels/tires, intake, bumpers, winch, diff breathers, on board air, lights, etc. The plan would basically be to armor it up as much as possible and keep it as comfortable and reliable as possible. Nothing crazy. Keep tires and lift within reason (2-3" and 33"s).

My worries lie in a) gas mileage taking a massive hit since I drive 30-35k miles/year, and b) off-roading my daily. Though the fuel economy is properly abysmal, the beauty of the Stormtrooper is that if I beat it up or break it off-road on a weekend, I can park it and not worry about not making it to work and just drive the 5th gen. Growing up I saw my dad's YJ go through perpetual stages of breakage and he could never daily it with how frequently it was being fixed. Obviously things are different now, with more durable parts and much more extensive R&D and so on. It's much more possible to daily a truck that gets off-roaded, but I can't decide if it's a bad call or not long-term.

That said, I can't help but think it would be a hell of a lot easier to only have 1 truck and to simply go about upgrading it as I need and see fit. Do everything once and right, modifying with good quality parts, and modify so it's something I can and want to keep for 5+ if not 10+ years. Build the exact truck I want, something cross-country and daily capable, but that can also handle moderate off-roading without issue. I'm perpetually torn on what to do.

Thoughts from my fellow 4Runner owners??
