Crawl Control Shout Out Thread

LOL, the problem is crawl control is great for super minor stuff. as soon as you get into the suck, it just sits there circle jerking itself.

Where the system is useful is as a Hill-ascent / hill descent system. I do believe it increases the capabilities and safety of the truck in very steep, low traction terrain. I agree once you are stuck, you are stuck. It is not “recovery mode”.

 

some people will argue the fact that you don't know how to wheel if you have a need for crawl control. I suggest that CC is like a condom, I'd rather have it, and not need it, than need it and not have it.

i love my CC, saved me a couple of times stuck in sand dunes.

there will be plenty of folks here who have way too much chest hair to admit that it does what it's suppose to do.

You are totally right. There is no way that crawl control is useless and these guys who pretend it is are either ignorant or too proud to admit that it actually works. I am totally surprised by the amount of trolls on what was supposed to be a positive thread.

If you can drive your truck better than CC I would like to say congratulations! You are super and deserve a cookie.

 

I have used crawl control twice and each time it failed to do anything, it literally accomplished nothing. So step off your high horse for a moment and maybe consider that some of these guys might have significantly more experience than you offroad.

I don't see any trolls or any negativity. What I see is a public question as to whether CC has worked for people and it's clear that for the majority that it hasn't.

Better put your apron on because you have a lot of cookies to bake.

You’re not kidding - tried using it on a loose cobble and bouldery hill and it was hopping the truck and making those grinding noises like a out of ballance drier on spin cycle. I was afraid it would hop and high center on a rock or break something underneath, so I turned it off and continued up the hill manually - easy enough to do anyway. The only person who liked it was my daughter in the back seat laughing her head off. Me, my wife and our dog didn’t like it one bit!

True story, my buddy and I are headed up T-33 plane crash here in Colorado over the summer and came to the crux and I am twisted up on some rocks through a single track section aired down to about 12 psi and I'm sitting on this angle of rock just slipping and the more I slip the more is pulls be away from the line.

So we were like, ok let's check out crawl control since this is a good opportunity to check it out and see if it works. So I turn it on and begin working the truck with CC and after about a minute of the truck bee-bopping on this rock we laugh a bit about how useless it is, turn it off, my buddy gives me one last spot and we are over the obstacle in about 5 seconds.

Yup realized how useless it was so never bothered with it again and never will.

OK, I would try it again if I was stuck in mud or snow before getting my shoes wet or dirty. Wouldn’t you?

 

Honestly no, I would just work the truck.

I would probably try in sand though but I never drive sand.

 

I meant after that, before the last resort of getting out and trying to air walk on the sliders and over your rear tire to the back bumper so you can jump off and away from the mud puddle before you slip and fall in it on your arse?

 

HAHA, ok maybe but it will take a lot to stop treps in mud.

 

I got kinda stuck in some super soft mud last week and the MTS rolled me right out of it somehow.

A few months ago I was crawling uphill in some loose rock and it was a little slippery so I thought I'd try out the crawl control. My truck just started shaking violently...

Sometimes good sometimes bad? I probably could've worked my way out of the soft mud last week without it, but it was so easy to just press the button and roll right away.
