If you don't mind crimping your own keystone jack [easy to do], theres this. I have it for mine, just not installed yet.

Does that hold an RJ45 female connector?

Yes. Keystone jacks are the standard for wall-mounted RJ-45 connectors. That shapeways link doesn't come with the connector, you will have to supply that yourself.

I put my radio power, antenna, and driving light wires through the main grommet beside the hood release. Had it the same on the 2nd gen. You can carefully put a hole through and use a wire/coat-hook trip if you need to, I successfully put a PL259 through there so there is a lot of room.. It comes out just above the brake pedal inside. No dash work necessary. I ran it over and behind the foot panel, down along the door sill under the trim and over under the front seat - you could keep going into the back seat compartment.

So that is where I was trying to poke through. I'm concerned about cutting a wire. What did you cut the grommet with?

The wiring harness is in the middle through the hole, the grommet is around the outside, so your wires aren't really near or through the same holes as the harness; I took an exacto, clicked out just a 1/4" of blade out and slowly pushed it through beside and away from the main harness. Start with the smaller wires going through and work your way up. You can tape new leads to the wire that's already through and pull it along..

I used a Relentless Fabrication hood hinge mount for the FireStik. Then ran a 10 AWG ground wire to where the battery is grounded. This wire connects on the under side of the antenna mount. I'll have to get some photos. I ordered a new FireStik Firefly 3' antenna to replace the one I have. So I'll see what I get with the SWR meter when I attach the new antenna and try to dial in the tip.

Check what you'll get after replacing the antenna. If you will be able to tune it ok then .
If you still ran into tuning issues, I'd suggest shorter flat ground strap instead of longer standard wire. *that is supposed to make a big difference in ham antenna installation, not 100% sure about cb... So hopefully you'll be fine with what you got :fingerscrossed:

This is a terrible idea. If you do it, you could damage your equipment because the antenna will be so far out of tune.

Has anyone made switch holders for this plate? And is there a thread explaining how to wire something from this point, down the A pillar and into the dash? I can't find these.

    Looks like yes.

Also, in regards to your next post: yes, here. This is just the center part but the seller also makes the left and right side. I ran my cables down to the drivers side A-pillar, just unbolt it all and run it BEHIND the airbags. It's pretty easy. I also dropped out my visor [turn the clip 45 degrees, it should pop out. unscrew (phillips head) the other part] to give a bit more slack in the headliner.

The little grommet up to the left of the main firewall grommet is even easier to run cable through if you just have a few cables. Just cut out the center piece to whatever diameter. And you can always buy a replacement if you want to return to stock.

Anyone ever try making a power folding antenna?

Was thinking it would be pretty cool to push a button and have my antenna flip up. Then when parked it flips down.
