Just got mine In the mail from
eBay..... $119.00 plus free shipping. Looks great so far..... I’ll test fit it tomorrow. FYI.... I’m gonna use double sided tape for the weather stripping to keep it in place. I’ll post more once it’s mounted.

I think the new grille will look a lot better! Im not a huge fan of the grille missing the small vents on the side.

    Nice purchase!

Thanks brother! I have to agree with you..... I think if the surround on my current grill was color matched it wouldn’t pop out as much.... but ehhh ill let the next owner worry about that lol

Sooooo I put the new grill in and I think it fits very well.... I kinda wish the surround was color matched and didn’t look as pronounced but ehhhh. That’s just me being picky lol

Yes I am. The stripping it comes with is junk. I've tried anotehr method and wasn't happy with it either. Going to tackle this again over the weekend. Can't stand the gap I have right now.

Hey guys, the weatherstrip that comes with this grille isn't necessarily junk, it is just made out of the wrong material. It is made out of silicone, not rubber. Know what adheres to silicone? Pretty much nothing, just more silicone.

I tried RTV sealant (before I found out said piece was silicone, that was a fail and a huge mess). I tried DAP silicone sealant and thought I had a winner (wife and I super carefully applied it). Then the friggin' silicone weatherstrip ran off the grille faster than Usain Bolt before it could set-up (you would literally need handfuls of clamps to hold in place if adhering the entire piece of weatherstrip at once).

I then read that some people have had luck sticking silicone to plastic with cyanoacrylate (ie. most super glues, just look at the ingredients). I may or may not have been slighly intoxicated and tried to comically super glue it as a last ditch effort. It looked promising, then I ran out of super glue, accidentally pulled too hard (that's what she said), then just made a total mess in my frustrated state. If I was thinking straight, I would have instantly cured the super glue with baking soda. That is a really neat trick if you've never seen it before.

There are also specialty plastic bonding systems by companies like Loctite and Permabond, but I wasn't going to drop another dime on possible failures.

AKA: GOOD FOOKIN' LUCK GETTING IT TO STICK AND STAY ON IN INCLEMENT WEATHER

In my honest opinion, if the grill was slightly taller (a little over a centimeter), it could use a traditional piece of weatherstrip with an adhesive tape backing and be good to go. The gap between the grille and hood is just too big to use anything other than what comes with the grille, it's a lose-lose situation for the most part.

Last, but not least, I found this after a bunch of aftermath research. You can probably do a group buy if you still want to try your luck at $25ish a grille:

All the eBay/Amazon 2005-2011 grilles are coming out of that location (Guangdong, China)

Thanks for the information on the trim piece. I was close to trying to adhere it thinking it was rubber; i'm glad I didn't try. I mainly feel the silicone piece it comes with is junk b/c it doesn't contour to the shape of the grille without cutting/trimming. Even when cutting and trimming, it still won't curve correctly right where the grille curves lower on the right and left towards the headlights. Still exploring new options b/c I won't leave the gap. It drives me crazy.

No worries, brother! I think if you can figure out how to securely adhere the included weatherstrip, fitment should be just fine (I know it compresses a bit when bent around the curves, but the hood will theoretically compress the entire length once closed. Good luck with it!

Received mine the other day, bought from a seller on Ebay in China and it only took a a few days to get to Canada. I tried a super glue for the weather strip but no dice.20181213_140147.jpg 20181213_140207.jpg 20181213_140147.jpg 20181213_140225.jpg
