@OVTune quick question, for tuning sake, whats stopping me from taking your tuner with me to a dyno shop and having them dyno tune the truck on the dyno? Is this a possibility or am I stuck with whatever tunes you can put out for my truck.

His can only be modified by him, your tuner cant adjust anything.

So whats the difference between the two packages OVT sells? ones a handheld and ones not? I assume the handheld has online gauges or something?

 

Handheld is simply a device to load tunes ovtune creates for you.
He has a v3 cable for sale which will enable logging for custom tunes with the hand held.

The flash kit uses a laptop to plug into the truck and load tunes from ovtune. It is supposed to also allow for data logging for custom tunes.

The i0tech stuff is for people who want to write their own tunes.

 

I’m not too sure .. but @12TRDTacoma has the self tuner. I think it’s just a cable and the software.

 

That's exactly what it is. You would have to provide the laptop yourself @VolcomTacoma

Well before too long I don't see people wanting to do standalones.
If you've watched our 3rd gen progress, you'll see we are now patching ecus and adding/customizing tables for better tuning.
It will come to the 4.0 as well.

Likely first patch will be EROM-Big map timing tables

But let me know what you guys are interested in and I'll try.
Note, speed density is not possible because no freaking map sensor thanks toyota.

luckily, the 4.0 maf is volt based not freq like the 3.5, so it may be possible to patch the maf into a map and SD. Unsure right now.

 

So now that I'm freshly equiped with a younger 1grfe I'm curious if you have a time frame for provding tunes around FBO's for the NA crowd?

 

I think you are working on most of the needed maps.
But I could see a need for flex fuel options, especially for boosted trucks.
Traction control, ABS and VSC maps..
Data logging with requested AF and linking to wide band O2 sensors.

 

How long did it take you guys to get your flash kit tune after sending the system ID and all that?

 

About three days for myself. Sent system ID email, got response the next day with registration key then used software to get calibration ID and sent email with that info. Response the next day with the tune files.

Waiting a year made the process really streamlined lol!

I'm one of those lucky Black Friday buyers myself but it's been almost 5 weeks since sending my stuff in. As long as I don't get my hopes up for nothing for the 30th time.
