Still can't get rid of low speed shudder

Ok so I have had my 2010 Tacoma Double Cab long box now for 2 months. I had a Tough Country 3' lift done when I purchased it and I have a shudder going through the truck when I take off from about 10kph to 20kph. I have tried putting washers under the carrier bearing as suggested but NOPE still there.

The only thing that seems to eliminate it is when I have weight in the box of the truck. Obviously leaving the box loaded with something is not the best idea in the world so I still need more suggestions for help.

Sound to me that your shudder is definately a drive line angle issue. Have you put an angle guage on the drive line to see exactly what it is? The washers you put in may of been to much or possibly not enough. I'm don't know what the spec is for the angle but maybe some one here or possibly a local driveshaft shop would be able to help you with that one.

 

A good tire/wheel balance and a stack of 4 washers took care of mine. Cheap and effective

 

axle shims, Im running a 2* with my new leafs (about 2" of lift)

but I do still have a slight shudder at about 10 mph, I live with it.

now if I could only get the slip yoke(at the trans, 2WD auto) to work properly and not clunk sometimes. or a carrier bearing delete

 

If it works better with weight in the back that would mean you have too few washers under there.

 

actually the opposite. the weight would push the chassis, and bearing, down further and the vibes go away meaning you want the bearing lower without the weight, more washers. that would either mean not enough washers or you need a wedge (shim) to angle the rear axle.

Just tried more washers but nope....no help. Anyone have any pics of installing Axle shims....I dont have a clue what to use or where to put them!

 

they go between the axle perch and leaf spring(kinda like a real small angled add a leaf) therefore shimming the axle to a proper angle in respect to the driveshaft/carrier
