I appreciate it. I feel weird taking up space with my airflow snorkel on a dobinsons snorkel thread lol. But was just trying to show how you can make fiberglass fenders and a snorkel play nicely with each other

Just got done with the install. A couple things to note for those who haven't installed it yet. I guess your results may vary but the holes for the studs on the template where a decent bit off. I marked them on there with the template and test fitted the template against the marked holes and the aft holes where a good half an inch off for me. What I ended up doing was painting a ring around the receptacles that hold the studs with some nail polish and getting the snorkel best in place I could and pushing it up against the fender... between those marks and the template markings I was able to get spot on holes. The main inlet hole for the intake itself was spot on with the template. I also did not drill the A pillar... I plan on attaching the angle bracket with some heavy duty velcro. I tried to already but the angle that its bent to doesn't quite fit perfectly to the angle of the A pillar skin. It would work fine however if you riveted it on there as intended. Velcro just needs a nice flat even surface to really grip to so I'll probably bend up an angle at work with some aluminum.

The hardest part in my opinion of the whole process was getting the rubber elbow to fit through the hole going into the engine bay. I worked on that alone for a good 30 minutes before I got it to slide through.

Very satisfied though, would purchase again.

I would suggest doing that. The main inlet hole has a decent amount of extra room around it for the snorkel to go through so your pretty safe cutting that out from the template.

Once you've done that you can put the snorkel against the fender and get an idea if your hole markings will jive or not.

I ended up opening all the stud holes up to 10mm so the whole thing had a bit of room to wiggle until I found the right position to snug everything down. It comes with pretty large washers so the holes don't have to be real close to the stud diameter.

Also don't forget to seal off your drain holes.

 

Well, it’s on.

Drilled the main holes, cleaned it up with the saw, and changed the intake over. That part went well.

My bolt holes on the template matched the snorkel.

But the template didn’t jive with the body very well. Maybe mine was miscut or something, but it seems like the top edge is in the wrong location relative to the hole pattern.

My snorkel seems too far “down” the side of the fender, and the a-pillar mount is useless.

 

Similar story with mine.

 

As per the template and instructions, the holes are to be step-drilled out to 16mm. See attached.

That's what gives the wiggle room that's required to get it seated properly.

 

Oh wow, I must've misread. For some reason I thought it said 6mm... was wondering what was up since that was smaller than the stud itself lol. My mistake... trying to get people to read instructions. XD

 

I drilled mine to the correct size, and despite having wiggle room, it didn’t match up correctly.

 

@Mugshot89 Hey saw your posted in a snorkel thread heres another one a little cheaper.

 

Spent 7 hours installing mine along side @Comatose last night. Honestly, this was a major PITA. The most difficult steps are getting the elbow inlet through the inner fender wall to the engine bay, inserting the snorkel into the the elbow, attaching the washers and nuts to the studs inside the fender, and then tighting the pipe clamp around the elbow/snorkel connection.

We used a pipe clamp and folded the inlet pipe over itself to fit it through the inner fender hole. Extra hands and grease are your friends for getting the snorkel fitting into the elbow. The most forward stud on the snorkel probably took me an hour to get started, pure dumb luck of getting the threads started with my finger tips. And the pipe clamp took all the patience in the world as I tightened it 1/2 turn at a time.

Make sure you have plenty of time, and friends to help out! We are doing the 5th gen t4r install tomorrow AM.
