I am Newbie when it comes to lifts, but Ive done a lot of research on TW. I decided I wanted to go with the OME full suspension. Been saving a couple months and I am ready to pull the trigger so I went down to the only local shop in the area. When I mentioned the OME the kid just shook his head and suggested fox shocks all around with blocks in the back. When I mentioned I wanted to stay away from blocks he asked why and I told them when I used them prior on my tundra I hated the ride and they didn't offer anything to the truck besides good looks. He mentioned that the shocks are the only thing controlling the ride, is that true?

After awhile he said he would do the OME but kept talking about blocks, so whats the deal? At this point I'm thinking of just ordering from headstrong and doing it in the driveway myself. Only problem is old man winter is just about here in New england. Any input would be awesome.

Shocks are what control the ride, springs are what give you height. Blocks give lift with no performance changes.

The ome shocks all around us a great setup. Pick your front springs based on how much lift you want, and get a different leaf pack to get your lift for the rear

The kid may not know how to install it or may just be lazy since a block lift is quick and easy to install. I’d go with the drive way install or at least find a qualified shop.

Do it yourself if you’re qualified, or a good mechanic. Blocks sorta work, but not the way I would go. OME and Bilstein are a very good entry level suspension upgrade. HeadStrong Offroad has very good prices and is extremely knowledgeable on Tacoma’s. Getting the installation done with quality parts is very important. I am very fortunate to have a great mechanic, with all the equipment, he does the install and alignment.
